Notarized and Certified Montenegrin Translation - Sudski Tumač, Two Scripts and the Georgian Notary
Montenegro appoints court translators through its Ministry of Justice and writes in two alphabets; Georgia notarizes translations. We produce the Georgian format for Georgian authorities in 1-2 hours, and Montenegrin translations built to pass through a sudski tumač in the script the office expects.

Sudski tumač, ovjereni prevod and the Georgian notarized translation
In Montenegro an ovjereni prevod is produced by a sudski tumač appointed by the Ministry of Justice under the Law on Court Interpreters, listed for a specific language; the translator binds the translation to the original or a certified copy with a klauzula and a round stamp, and this alone gives the document official value. Montenegrin offices require this form for foreign documents. No sudski tumač is registered for Georgian in Montenegro, so Georgian documents have traditionally reached Montenegrin offices through an English or Russian relay translation, with the errors that implies. Georgia has no sworn-translator register; the official form here is the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary as competent in Montenegrin.
Our solution connects the two directly: we translate the Georgian original into Montenegrin here, notarize it, apostille it, and forward the text to a partner sudski tumač for English or Russian in Podgorica who re-certifies it as a translation reviewed against the apostilled original, which Montenegrin offices accept in practice. An ovjereni prevod from Montenegro is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign notarial act; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.
Scripts and standards: Latin, Cyrillic, Montenegrin, Serbian
Montenegro's constitution makes Montenegrin the official language and gives Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Croatian official use, with Latin and Cyrillic scripts equal. In practice, the Ministry of Interior, most employers, banks and the property administration work in Latin script and the Montenegrin standard; some courts, older matične knjige and some municipal records use Cyrillic and Serbian forms; and documents issued before 2007 are in Serbian. For Georgian documents going to Montenegro we deliver Latin-script Montenegrin by default and Cyrillic or Serbian on request when the office requires it. For Montenegrin documents coming to Georgia we read both scripts and all four standards, and we note on the translation which standard and script the source uses, which occasionally matters for Georgian registrars comparing an old Cyrillic birth extract with a new Latin passport.
Privremeni boravak i rad: the seasonal and permanent worker file
Most Georgians going to Montenegro go for work. The dozvola za privremeni boravak i rad is applied for by the Montenegrin employer through the Zavod za zapošljavanje and the Ministry of Interior with the worker's documents, and seasonal hospitality and construction jobs on the coast account for the largest share, alongside permanent positions in tourism management, healthcare and trades. The file requires the Georgian passport, the Georgian conviction certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (apostilled, translated, valid for a limited period), proof of qualifications where the job requires them, a medical certificate for some positions, and for family members marriage and birth certificates; the Ministry of Interior requires sudski tumač translations. We assemble the translated set to match the ministry's list for your category, keep your name's transliteration identical across every document, and arrange the re-certification so the employer receives a complete file; for agencies sending groups of seasonal workers we process the group as one project.
Property, residence by ownership and Uprava za nekretnine
Montenegro grants residence to foreigners who own property, and Georgians and Georgian companies buy apartments and houses on the coast and in Podgorica. The purchase runs through a Montenegrin notar and the Uprava za nekretnine (real estate administration), which require the buyer's passport, a punomoćje if a representative signs, and for the residence permit the conviction certificate and proof of funds, all translated by a sudski tumač; the sale contract, the list nepokretnosti (property extract) and the residence decision are translated into Georgian for the buyer's records and Georgian tax purposes. Montenegrin buyers of Georgian property, who are fewer but present in Batumi, follow the mirror route with our notary at Agmashenebeli 117.
Montenegrin documents for Georgian authorities
Any Montenegrin-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are pasoši, lične karte and vozačke dozvole (translated from a photo, no visit needed), izvodi iz matične knjige rođenih and vjenčanih for marriage registration and family residence permits, the uvjerenje o nekažnjavanju for residence permits, diplomas for work permits and recognition, izvodi iz CRPS, statuti and punomoćja for company registration, ugovori o radu and izvodi iz banke for proof of income. Montenegrin public documents must carry an apostille - issued by the osnovni sud (basic court) for documents from its territory, or by the Ministry of Justice for certain categories - before the translation is notarized. Marriage between Georgian and Montenegrin citizens, and children of mixed families, generate matched document sets that we prepare with identical transliteration; Montenegrin č, ć, đ, š, ž, ś and ź are transliterated by consistent rules.
Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough
Not every recipient needs the notary or the sudski tumač. Montenegrin universities for admission, employers for initial screening, landlords, insurers and online portals often accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. The Ministry of Interior, matične službe, notaries, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized and re-certified one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.
