Pass, nasjonale ID-kort and førerkort
Norwegian passports and nasjonale ID-kort are translated into Georgian for residence permits, company registration, property purchases, bank accounts, lease agreements and marriage at the House of Justice. Because these are standardized documents, we translate and notarize them from a clear photo, without the original, and courier the notarized translation anywhere in Georgia or abroad. Norwegian førerkort are translated for the Service Agency when exchanging or presenting a license, and for rental and insurance companies. Transliteration of your name into Georgian is fixed at the first translation and kept on file so every subsequent document matches; æ, ø and å are transliterated by consistent rules aligned with your passport's machine-readable line, and the fødselsnummer is reproduced exactly, since Georgian offices use it as an identifier.
Fødselsattester, vigselsattester and Folkeregister utskrifter
Norwegian civil status lives in the Folkeregister kept by Skatteetaten, which issues fødselsattester and vigselsattester on request and utskrifter of different types - bekreftelse på fødsel, bostedsbekreftelse, sivilstandsbekreftelse, familiebekreftelse - for different purposes, on paper or digitally through Altinn; Georgian authorities accept the appropriate one, apostilled by the Statsforvalteren, translated and notarized here, for marriage registration, family residence permits, inheritance and divorce proceedings. Choosing the right type matters: a bostedsbekreftelse will not prove a marriage or parentage. Divorce is evidenced by the Statsforvalteren's skilsmissebevilling or the court's dom, also apostilled. In the other direction, Georgian birth, marriage and death certificates go to Skatteetaten for Folkeregister registration and the prøvingsattest, to the UDI for family immigration and to Norwegian skifte proceedings; these are apostilled and translated into Norwegian or English. Every translation mirrors the original field by field.
Politiattest and the Georgian conviction certificate
Georgian temporary residence permits require a criminal record check from the applicant's country. For Norwegian citizens that is the politiattest from the Politiets enhet for vandelskontroll og politiattester in Vardø, applied for online for a stated purpose - Norwegian politiattester are purpose-specific, and one issued for employment in Norway may not be accepted for a foreign residence permit - and apostilled by the Statsforvalteren. We translate it into Georgian and notarize it in 1-2 hours. Georgians applying to the UDI do not generally need a conviction certificate, but Helsedirektoratet authorization, certain employers in healthcare, childcare and security, and citizenship applications do; the Georgian conviction certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs is apostilled and translated into Norwegian or English, and we treat it as express work.
Prøvingsattest and marriage across borders
A Georgian marrying in Norway goes through Skatteetaten's prøving av ekteskapsvilkår, which requires the Georgian birth certificate, a marital status certificate confirming no impediment, proof of legal residence in Norway, and, if previously married, divorce decisions, all apostilled and translated; Skatteetaten then issues the prøvingsattest that the vigsler (church, humanist or civil) needs, valid for four months. A Norwegian citizen marrying in Georgia presents an ekteskapsattest or a sivilstandsbekreftelse from Skatteetaten, apostilled by the Statsforvalteren, translated into Georgian and notarized. We prepare both sets and know the validity windows. After a marriage in Georgia, the Norwegian spouse registers it in the Folkeregister with the apostilled and translated Georgian certificate, which we include in the same order. Samboerskap, which the UDI recognizes for family immigration, is documented with translated leases, joint accounts and correspondence rather than certificates.
Child travel consents, bostedsbekreftelse and proof of address
Georgian border police require a notarized consent from the non-travelling parent when a minor leaves Georgia with one parent, and Norwegian authorities recommend a written samtykke in comparable cases. We draft bilingual consents at our notary with an interpreter and translate consents issued in Norway for use at Georgian borders and schools. The bostedsbekreftelse from the Folkeregister and other proof of address are requested by Georgian banks and by the Revenue Service for tax residency, and Georgian residence certificates are translated into Norwegian for Skatteetaten, NAV and Helfo.
Kontoutskrifter, arbeidsavtaler, pension documents, and how to order
Residence permits, property purchases and Georgian mortgages require proof of income; the UDI asks for the employer's offer and, for family permits, the sponsor's income, and Skatteetaten and NAV ask for various bekreftelser. We translate kontoutskrifter from DNB, Nordea, SpareBank 1, Danske Bank and Handelsbanken into Georgian, and Georgian statements from TBC, Bank of Georgia and Liberty into Norwegian or English in a layout Norwegian offices recognize, along with arbeidsavtaler, lønnsslipper, skattemeldinger, pension statements from NAV and the Statens pensjonskasse and bekreftelser from NAV. For long statements we translate the header, totals and relevant transactions where the receiving office permits.
