Who asks for proof of funds, and what they want to see
Visa officers at Schengen, British, American, Canadian, Australian, Japanese and Gulf consulates ask for bank statements covering the last three to six months to see a stable balance and regular income; the Public Service Development Agency asks foreigners applying for Georgian residence permits for proof of means and for the sponsor's income in family cases; foreign immigration offices ask Georgians for the same in the other direction, with specific thresholds for work, study and family permits; universities ask international students for proof that tuition and living costs are covered, often as a deposit in a blocked account; Georgian notaries and the Public Registry ask foreign property buyers for proof of the origin of funds; and banks, in every country, ask new and existing clients for source-of-funds documentation under compliance rules that have tightened everywhere. Each of these reads a statement differently, and the translation we produce is shaped to the reader: a consulate wants to see the header, the closing balance and the regular credits; an immigration office wants the sponsor's salary; a notary wants the transfer that paid for the apartment; a compliance officer wants the whole history.
Georgian bank statements for visas and life abroad
Statements from TBC Bank, Bank of Georgia, Liberty Bank, Basisbank, Credo, Terabank and the other Georgian banks are issued in Georgian, and increasingly in English on request, on paper with a stamp or as PDFs with an electronic signature and a QR code from the banks' internet banking. Consulates in Tbilisi accept Georgian statements in English or translated into the consulate's language, and many Schengen consulates accept a certified translation without notarization for the visa file; foreign immigration offices, universities and banks abroad generally want a certified or notarized translation, and some want the bank's stamp on every page. We translate Georgian statements into the target language in the bank's own layout, so that the officer sees the same columns, running balance and closing figure, and we translate the accompanying documents in the same order: the bank's balance confirmation letter, the income certificate from the employer, payslips, the Revenue Service's certificate of income, the pension certificate, and the sponsor letter and sponsor's documents where a relative funds the trip or the studies. For long statements we translate the header, the totals and the relevant transactions in an abridged format where the receiving office permits, which most consulates do, and the whole statement where it does not.
Foreign bank statements for Georgian residence permits, property and banks
Foreigners in Georgia present statements from their home banks - Deutsche Bank, ING, UniCredit, Sberbank and the Russian banks, Ziraat and the Turkish banks, Halyk and Kaspi, ICBC and Bank of China, HDFC and the Indian banks, and hundreds of others - to the Public Service Development Agency as proof of means for residence permits, to notaries and the Public Registry as proof of the origin of funds for property purchases, to Georgian banks opening accounts and reviewing compliance, to the Revenue Service in tax matters and to landlords. The Agency, notaries, the Registry and courts require a notarized Georgian translation; Georgian banks generally accept a certified translation but sometimes ask for notarization of source-of-funds documents; landlords and employers accept a certified one. We translate these statements into Georgian in the bank's layout, reproduce every figure and date exactly with a second reader checking the numbers, convert nothing (currency amounts stay as they are, with a note on the currency), and translate the supporting documents - income certificates, employment contracts, tax returns, dividend statements, property sale contracts, inheritance documents - that explain where the money came from.
Digital statements, QR codes, crypto and unusual sources
Most statements are now PDFs downloaded from internet banking, with or without an electronic signature and a QR code, and receiving offices treat them differently: consulates and immigration offices generally accept them printed, some ask for the bank's stamp, and notaries and courts sometimes ask for a bank-certified copy. We translate digital statements as they are, note the electronic form and any verification code in the translation, and, where a Georgian office requires it, advise on obtaining the bank's stamp before notarization. Funds that come from unusual sources need their own documentation translated: proceeds of a property sale (the sale contract and the transfer), an inheritance (the inheritance certificate and the estate's bank documents), a gift (a notarized gift declaration and the donor's statements), business income (company accounts and dividend resolutions), and cryptocurrency (exchange statements and withdrawal records, which some banks and notaries accept with the supporting trail and others do not). We translate the trail as a set, so that each transfer on the statement is explained by a document in the same file.
What gets a financial file rejected, and how we avoid it
Financial documents are rejected for small things: an account holder's name that differs from the passport, a statement that stops before the application date, a balance that appeared as a single deposit the week before (which officers treat as borrowed money unless explained), a currency not stated, a total that does not match the transactions, a sponsor letter without the sponsor's own statements and relationship documents, a payslip without the employer's details, and an abridged translation submitted to an office that wanted every page. We check the account holder's name against the passport and use the transliteration already fixed in your file, translate the currency and the closing balance exactly as printed, re-check every figure with a second reader, translate the sponsor's documents in the same order as the applicant's, and ask which office will receive the file before deciding between the full and the abridged translation, since the wrong choice is cheaper to avoid than to repair.
Pricing, confidentiality and how to order
Bank statements are priced per page at the standard tariff for full translations and at a fixed rate per statement for the abridged format, with income certificates, sponsor letters, payslips and confirmation letters at fixed rates per document; certified translations carry no notary fee, notarized ones the notary's fee per act. A short statement is translated in 1-2 hours; a long statement or a complete visa file with sponsor documents the same day. Every financial document is handled under our non-disclosure agreement by a restricted team, stored encrypted and deleted from working systems after delivery on request.
To order, send the statement as a PDF or clear photos of every page on WhatsApp or Telegram, with the supporting documents, and tell us which consulate, office, university or notary will receive the file; the quote arrives within 15 minutes with the format and certification level we recommend. Certified translations are delivered by email; notarized ones by scan when the notary signs, by collection at Agmashenebeli 117 near Marjanishvili Metro, by same-day courier in Tbilisi or by courier to any city.
