Notarized and Certified Dutch Translation - Beëdigd Vertaler, the IND and the Georgian Notary
The Netherlands swears translators before its courts and lets many authorities accept English; Georgia notarizes translations. We produce the Georgian format for Georgian authorities in 1-2 hours, and Dutch translations built for the IND, the gemeente and Nuffic, re-certified by a beëdigd vertaler where they insist.

Beëdigd vertaler, the Rbtv and the Georgian notarized translation
In the Netherlands a beëdigde vertaling is produced by a beëdigd vertaler sworn before a rechtbank and registered in the Register beëdigde tolken en vertalers (Rbtv) under the Wbtv, who attaches a verklaring and stamp and binds the translation to the original or a copy; Dutch authorities require this form for foreign documents in most formal procedures, though Dutch administrative culture is unusually tolerant of English, and the IND, many gemeenten, DUO and universities accept documents and translations in English without a beëdigd vertaler. Belgium's Flemish authorities use beëdigde vertalers registered in the national register at the FOD Justitie, whose translations are legalized electronically. A few beëdigde vertalers for Georgian exist in the Rbtv, far too few for the demand. Georgia has no sworn-translator register; the official form here is the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary as competent in Dutch.
Our solution: we translate the Georgian original into Dutch or English here, notarize it, apostille it, and either deliver it as a certified English translation where the Dutch office accepts one, or forward the Dutch text to a partner beëdigd vertaler in the Netherlands or Belgium who re-certifies it, which is faster and cheaper than a fresh sworn translation. A beëdigde vertaling from the Netherlands is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign document; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.
The IND: MVV, kennismigrant, family reunification and study
The Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst decides residence permits for Georgians as kennismigranten (highly skilled migrants sponsored by a recognized employer), EU Blue Card holders, researchers, students, family members and spouses, and the Dutch Embassy in Tbilisi issues the MVV (provisional residence permit) that precedes entry; the sponsor - employer, university or spouse - usually applies in the Netherlands through the TEV procedure. The IND's document requirements are precise: foreign civil status documents must be legalized or apostilled and translated into Dutch, English, French or German, and for family reunification the Georgian marriage certificate, children's birth certificates and proof of relationship are examined closely; for kennismigranten the employer's documents carry the file and the applicant's diploma is often not required by the IND itself. The IND accepts certified translations into English for most documents and requires a beëdigd vertaler for translations into Dutch. We assemble the translated set to match the IND's list for your category, in English where accepted, with your name's transliteration identical across every document and aligned with the Latin form in your Georgian passport.
Gemeenten and the BRP: registration, marriage, birth and the DigiD
On arrival, a Georgian registers at the gemeente in the Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) and receives a BSN, and the gemeente examines the foreign documents - birth certificate, marriage certificate - that establish the registered facts; gemeenten require these to be apostilled and translated by a beëdigd vertaler into Dutch, though many accept English, French or German originals and translations. Marriage at the gemeente, and registration of a Georgian marriage or birth in the BRP, require the Georgian documents apostilled and translated, and the gemeente may require a verklaring van huwelijksbevoegdheid or an equivalent from Georgia and a declaration that the parties are not marrying to obtain residence. Divorces, name changes and adoptions abroad are registered the same way. We prepare these sets for the gemeente's requirements, in English where the gemeente accepts it and with beëdigd re-certification where it insists, and we advise on which gemeenten are strict, since practice varies.
Flanders: Belgian gemeenten, Dienst Vreemdelingenzaken, NARIC-Vlaanderen
Dutch-speaking Belgium follows Belgian rules with Flemish institutions: the Dienst Vreemdelingenzaken and the gemeenten handle residence and registration, requiring apostilled Georgian documents with beëdigde vertalingen into Dutch by a translator registered at the FOD Justitie, legalized through the national register's electronic system; NARIC-Vlaanderen recognizes foreign diplomas for the Flemish community; Flemish universities - Leuven, Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels, Hasselt - admit Georgian students to Dutch- and English-language programs; and Flemish companies in ports, logistics, chemicals and agriculture work with Georgian partners. Belgian apostilles are issued by the FOD Buitenlandse Zaken through eLegalization. We prepare Georgian documents for Belgian beëdigd vertaler re-certification through a partner in Antwerp or Brussels, and translate Flemish documents into Georgian and notarize them for Georgian authorities.
Dutch and Flemish documents for Georgian authorities
Any Dutch-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are paspoorten, identiteitskaarten and rijbewijzen (translated from a photo, no visit needed), uittreksels from the BRP and geboorte- and huwelijksakten for marriage registration and family residence permits, the VOG for residence permits, diploma's for work permits and recognition, KVK Handelsregister uittreksels, statuten and volmachten for company registration, arbeidsovereenkomsten and bankafschriften for proof of income, and verklaringen from the SVB, UWV or Belastingdienst. Dutch public documents must carry an apostille, which in the Netherlands is issued by any rechtbank, before the translation is notarized; Belgian documents carry the FOD Buitenlandse Zaken apostille, usually electronic. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.
Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough
Not every recipient needs the notary or the beëdigd vertaler. Dutch universities for admission, employers, the IND for many documents, landlords, insurers and online portals accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, particularly into English, which is quicker and cheaper. Gemeenten for BRP registration and marriage, courts, notarissen, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized and re-certified one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online - the IND's portal, Studielink, DUO, the Belgian eLegalization system - we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.
