Dutch Translation of Diplomas, Transcripts and Qualifications for Nuffic, Studielink and NARIC-Vlaanderen
Nuffic tells Dutch universities and employers what a Georgian degree is worth, Studielink is the single door to Dutch higher education, and Flemish universities and NARIC-Vlaanderen have their own rules. We translate academic documents in the format each requires, and Dutch degrees - some of them in Latin - for recognition in Georgia.

Nuffic and the IDW: diploma evaluation for study and work
Nuffic, the Dutch organization for internationalization in education, evaluates foreign qualifications for Dutch universities and hogescholen, which consult its country module on Georgia and request a diplomawaardering where a case is unclear; for employment and professional registration, the Internationale Diplomawaardering (IDW) service of Nuffic and SBB issues a credential evaluation stating the Dutch equivalent of a Georgian diploma. Both require the diploma and cijferlijst or supplement in the original with translations into Dutch, English, German or French by a certified translator, and Nuffic verifies the diploma with the issuing Georgian university where doubt arises. Regulated professions - doctors, dentists, nurses and pharmacists through the CIBG's BIG-register procedure with its assessment and examinations, teachers through DUO, lawyers through the Orde - have their own routes with additional documents. We translate the Georgian packet into English, which Nuffic and the IDW accept and which serves other purposes too, and our medical translators, who are physicians, translate clinical subjects using the terminology of Dutch medical faculties for the BIG route.
Studielink, DUO and Dutch university admission
Georgian applicants to Dutch universities and hogescholen - Leiden, Delft, Wageningen, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Maastricht and the universities of applied sciences - apply through Studielink, the national enrollment portal, and then through each institution's own application system, uploading the diploma and transcript or the school leaving certificate with national exam results, proof of English (IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge), a motivation letter and for some programs a portfolio or test; Dutch universities run a very large number of English-language programs, and non-EU tuition is substantial, so scholarships - the Holland Scholarship, Orange Knowledge Programme, university funds - have their own document lists. Institutions accept certified translations with our stamp for the application and require apostilled originals at enrollment; DUO handles the recognition of secondary certificates for some purposes, and the IND's study permit requires the institution's acceptance, proof of funds and health insurance. We translate the full Georgian packet in one business day and deliver it digitally for upload.
Flanders: NARIC-Vlaanderen and Flemish universities
Georgian applicants to KU Leuven, Ghent University, the University of Antwerp, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Hasselt University and the Flemish hogescholen apply through the institutions' portals, uploading certified translations of the diploma and transcript or the school certificate and proof of Dutch or English; for regulated professions and for some programs, NARIC-Vlaanderen issues a recognition decision (erkenning or niveauerkenning) on the basis of the apostilled diploma with a beëdigde vertaling into Dutch by a translator registered at the FOD Justitie, and the application is made online. The Belgian student visa through the Dienst Vreemdelingenzaken requires the institution's admission, proof of funds, a medical certificate and the Georgian conviction certificate translated. We translate the Georgian packet in the format NARIC-Vlaanderen and the universities expect and arrange Belgian beëdigd vertaler re-certification where required.
Dutch and Flemish degrees for recognition and employment in Georgia
A Dutch or Belgian degree used in Georgia - for a work permit, for a teaching, medical or engineering position, for admission to a Georgian master's or doctoral program, or for recognition at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - must be apostilled by a rechtbank or the FOD Buitenlandse Zaken and translated into Georgian and notarized in Tbilisi. We translate the diploma, the cijferlijst, the diplomasupplement and, when recognition is sought, course descriptions. Dutch universities issue many diplomas in Latin or Latin-Dutch bilingual form, which our Latinists and Dutch translators handle together, and Dutch degree titles - bachelor, master, doctor, and the older doctorandus, ingenieur and meester titles - are explained in a translator's note for a Georgian committee; medical graduates should expect the recognition body to ask for the BIG registration and specialist certification. Georgians returning from Dutch universities, many of them from Wageningen, Delft and Leiden, are the largest group here.
School certificates, student letters and vocational qualifications
Dutch families in Tbilisi enroll children in international schools with schoolrapporten and verklaringen van inschrijving translated; Georgian families moving to the Netherlands need Georgian school records translated for the school and the gemeente, which places the child in the right year and arranges Dutch language support through the internationale schakelklas. Students need verklaringen van inschrijving and student status letters in the other language for permits, banks and health insurance. Georgian workers going to the Netherlands with vocational qualifications need certificates translated for employers and, for regulated trades, the competent body; Dutch mbo-diploma's and vakdiploma's used in Georgia are translated and notarized for Georgian employers.
Motivation letters, recommendations, CVs and timing
Georgian applicants to Dutch programs and scholarships ask us to translate or edit motivation letters and CVs in English - Dutch universities value concrete, concise and honest applications - and to translate recommendation letters from Georgian professors while preserving the signature block; doctoral candidates need research proposals, thesis abstracts and publication lists translated, and researchers collaborating with Dutch universities use our editors for articles. Native Dutch and English editors with academic backgrounds handle these texts.
On timing: Studielink deadlines fall in January for numerus fixus programs and in spring for most others, Nuffic and IDW evaluations take several weeks, NARIC-Vlaanderen decisions one to four months, beëdigd re-certification a few days, and the apostille on a Georgian diploma can take up to five business days. Start the apostille early, since the apostilled diploma is reusable, and ask for a digital certified translation first so you can upload it while the paper originals are in process.
