Paspoorten, identiteitskaarten and rijbewijzen

Dutch and Belgian passports and identiteitskaarten are translated into Georgian for residence permits, company registration, property purchases, bank accounts, lease agreements and marriage at the House of Justice; the Dutch card carries the BSN and the Belgian one the rijksregisternummer, which we reproduce exactly. Because these are standardized documents, we translate and notarize them from a clear photo, without the original, and courier the notarized translation anywhere in Georgia or abroad. Dutch and Belgian rijbewijzen are translated for the Service Agency when exchanging or presenting a license, and for rental and insurance companies. Transliteration of your name into Georgian is fixed at the first translation and kept on file so every subsequent document matches; Dutch tussenvoegsels (van, de, van der) are handled consistently, since Dutch documents sort them differently from Georgian forms, and the ij and the diaeresis are transliterated by consistent rules aligned with your passport's machine-readable line.

BRP uittreksels and geboorte-, huwelijks- and overlijdensakten

Dutch civil status lives in two places: the akten van de burgerlijke stand (birth, marriage and death records) kept by the gemeente where the event occurred, from which an afschrift or an internationaal uittreksel is issued, and the Basisregistratie Personen, from which the gemeente issues an uittreksel BRP showing name, address, nationality, marital status and family members. Georgian authorities want the afschrift van de geboorteakte or huwelijksakte, or the internationaal uittreksel, apostilled by a rechtbank, translated and notarized here, for marriage registration in Georgia, for adding a spouse or child to a residence permit, for inheritance and for divorce proceedings; divorce is evidenced by the court's echtscheidingsbeschikking and its registration in the huwelijksakte. Belgian gemeenten issue equivalent akten and uittreksels, apostilled electronically. In the other direction, Georgian birth, marriage and death certificates go to Dutch gemeenten for the BRP and for marriage, to the IND for family reunification and to notarissen for nalatenschappen; these are apostilled and translated into Dutch or English. Every translation mirrors the original field by field, including the latere vermeldingen, which ambtenaren van de burgerlijke stand check.

The VOG and the Georgian conviction certificate

Georgian temporary residence permits require a criminal record check from the applicant's country. For Dutch citizens that is the Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) from Justis, applied for through the gemeente or online with DigiD for a stated purpose, and apostilled by a rechtbank; for Belgians the uittreksel uit het strafregister from the gemeente, apostilled electronically. We translate it into Georgian and notarize it in 1-2 hours. Georgians applying to the IND rarely need a conviction certificate, but naturalization, certain employers in healthcare, education and security, and some universities do; the Georgian conviction certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs is apostilled and translated into Dutch or English, and we treat it as express work.

Verklaring van huwelijksbevoegdheid and marriage across borders

A Georgian marrying in the Netherlands goes through the gemeente's melding voorgenomen huwelijk, which requires the Georgian birth certificate, a marital status certificate and, where the gemeente asks, a verklaring on Georgian marriage law and a declaration under the Wet voorkoming schijnhuwelijken that the marriage is not for residence purposes, all apostilled and translated by a beëdigd vertaler or into English where the gemeente accepts it, plus proof of identity and residence; the gemeente sets a waiting period of at least two weeks. A Dutch citizen marrying in Georgia presents a verklaring van huwelijksbevoegdheid from the gemeente (or an uittreksel BRP showing marital status), apostilled by a rechtbank, translated into Georgian and notarized. We prepare both sets and know the validity windows. After a marriage in Georgia, the Dutch spouse registers it in the BRP at their gemeente, or at the gemeente Den Haag for Dutch citizens abroad, with the apostilled and translated Georgian certificate, which we include in the same order. Geregistreerd partnerschap is handled the same way.

Child travel consents, uittreksel BRP as proof of address

Georgian border police require a notarized consent from the non-travelling parent when a minor leaves Georgia with one parent, and the Dutch Koninklijke Marechaussee recommends a toestemmingsformulier reizen met minderjarige in comparable cases. We draft bilingual consents at our notary with an interpreter and translate Dutch toestemmingsverklaringen for use at Georgian borders and schools. The uittreksel BRP serves as proof of address for Georgian banks and the Revenue Service, and Georgian residence certificates are translated into Dutch for the Belastingdienst, the SVB and zorgverzekeraars when a Georgian registers or deregisters in the Netherlands.

Bankafschriften, arbeidsovereenkomsten, pensioenoverzichten, and how to order

Residence permits, property purchases and Georgian mortgages require proof of income; the IND asks sponsors for proof of sustainable income and applicants for various verklaringen. We translate bankafschriften from ING, ABN AMRO, Rabobank, bunq and Belgian banks into Georgian, and Georgian statements from TBC, Bank of Georgia and Liberty into Dutch or English in a layout Dutch offices recognize, along with arbeidsovereenkomsten, loonstroken, jaaropgaven, aanslagen inkomstenbelasting, pensioenoverzichten and verklaringen from the UWV and SVB. For long statements we translate the header, totals and relevant transactions where the receiving office permits.

To order, send photos of every page, both sides, stamps legible, on WhatsApp; the quote arrives within 15 minutes, in Dutch if you prefer. Passports and licenses need nothing more. For other documents bring the apostilled original to Agmashenebeli 117 when the translation is ready, or courier it from Batumi, Kutaisi or elsewhere. Delivery is by scan the moment the notary signs, by collection, by same-day courier in Tbilisi or by courier to any city; most personal documents are finished within the same afternoon.

Dutch translation - frequently asked questions

Which form of my Dutch birth certificate do Georgian authorities want?+
The afschrift van de geboorteakte or the internationaal uittreksel from the gemeente where you were born, apostilled by a rechtbank. We translate and notarize it in 1-2 hours. An uittreksel BRP alone does not prove birth or parentage.
Do you need my original passport?+
No. A clear photo of the data page is enough for a notarized passport translation, and the same applies to driving licenses and identiteitskaarten.
What does a Georgian need to marry in the Netherlands?+
Apostilled Georgian birth certificate and marital status certificate, plus divorce decisions if applicable, translated by a beëdigd vertaler or into English where the gemeente accepts it, and the schijnhuwelijk declaration. We prepare the complete bundle and advise on the gemeente's practice.
How fast is an IND family reunification document set?+
Translation of the certificates within a day; apostilles on the originals a few business days. Allow about a week for the complete bundle.
