Bosnian Translation of Diplomas, Transcripts and Qualifications for Nostrification, Admission and Recognition in Georgia
Bosnia recognizes foreign degrees through nostrification at its universities and through entity and state bodies, and admits foreign students to programs in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Mostar. Georgian universities and employers meet Bosnian diplomas from a fragmented but Bologna-aligned system. We translate academic documents in the format each requires.

Nostrification and recognition in Bosnia's divided system
Recognition of foreign qualifications in Bosnia is split like everything else. Academic recognition for continuing studies (priznavanje radi nastavka obrazovanja) is decided by the university where the student wants to continue; recognition for employment (priznavanje radi zapošljavanja) is decided by the entity ministries of education, the cantonal ministries in the Federation and the Brčko education department, with the state-level Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications (CIP, the ENIC/NARIC center) providing information and, for some purposes, opinions; the term nostrifikacija survives in practice for all of these. Applications require the apostilled diploma and transcript (uvjerenje o položenim ispitima) with sudski tumač translations, the nastavni plan i program for professional recognition, and for regulated professions - medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, teaching, engineering with licensing - the additional documents the entity chamber or ministry requires. Georgian graduates working in Bosnia are few, but Bosnian citizens who studied in Georgia - medicine and dentistry in Tbilisi among them - bring Georgian diplomas home for recognition, and we translate the Georgian packet in the format their canton or entity expects.
Admission to Bosnian universities
Georgian applicants to the University of Sarajevo, the University of Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar (both Džemal Bijedić and the University of Mostar), Zenica, Bihać, East Sarajevo and the private universities (SSST, International University of Sarajevo, International Burch University, which teach in English) apply with the apostilled diploma or school leaving certificate and transcript, translated by a sudski tumač or, at application, with a certified translation, proof of Bosnian or English by program, and for undergraduate programs the recognition of the Georgian school certificate by the university. Erasmus+ exchanges between Bosnian and Georgian universities generate learning agreements, transcripts of records and enrollment letters in both directions. The Služba za poslove sa strancima student residence requires the enrollment certificate, proof of means and health insurance. We translate the full Georgian packet in one business day and coordinate with the June-July and September admission rounds.
Bosnian diplomas for recognition and employment in Georgia
A Bosnian degree used in Georgia - for a work permit, for a teaching, medical, engineering or coaching position, for admission to a Georgian master's or doctoral program, or for recognition at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - must be apostilled by the competent court and translated into Georgian and notarized in Tbilisi. We translate the diploma, the dodatak diplomi, the uvjerenje o položenim ispitima or prijepis ocjena and, when recognition is sought, the nastavni plan i program. Bosnian degree titles - bachelor (bakalaureat, 180 or 240 ECTS), master (magistar), doctor of science (doktor nauka), and the pre-Bologna diplomirani inženjer, profesor, doktor medicine and magistar titles, which Bosnia's universities issued until the late 2000s and which are equated by entity law to Bologna levels - are explained in a translator's note for a Georgian committee, together with the Bosnian grading scale of 5 to 10. Documents from Republika Srpska universities are translated directly from Cyrillic. Bosnian coaches, engineers on Bosnian companies' Georgian projects and medical graduates are the largest groups here.
School certificates, vocational qualifications and student letters
Bosnian families in Tbilisi enroll children in international and Georgian schools with svjedočanstva and đačke knjižice translated; Georgian families in Bosnia need Georgian school records translated for the osnovna or srednja škola, which places the child in the right year, and the education ministries of the entities and cantons recognize foreign school certificates for enrollment. Students need potvrde o studiranju and student status letters in the other language for permits, banks and scholarships. Bosnian workers coming to Georgia with vocational qualifications - welders, carpenters, drivers, hospitality staff - need svjedočanstva o završenoj srednjoj školi and certificates translated for employers and inspectors; Georgian workers going to Bosnia with vocational qualifications need theirs translated for the entity employment services that issue work permits.
Sports qualifications and coaching licenses
Bosnia and Georgia exchange football and other sports coaches, and coaching qualifications cross with them: UEFA A, B and Pro licenses issued by the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Georgian Football Federation, diplomas from the faculties of sport in Sarajevo, Tuzla and East Sarajevo, and Georgian sports academy diplomas, all of which clubs and federations require translated for registration and work permits. We translate these with the terminology of UEFA's coaching convention and the federations' registration rules, alongside the contracts and personal documents on the same file.
Motivation letters, recommendations, CVs and timing
Georgian applicants to Bosnian programs and Bosnian applicants to Georgian ones ask us to translate or edit motivation letters and CVs, and to translate recommendation letters from professors while preserving the signature block; doctoral candidates need research proposals, thesis abstracts and publication lists translated, and researchers collaborating through Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and Western Balkans-Eastern Partnership programs use our editors for articles. Native Bosnian and English editors with academic backgrounds handle these texts.
On timing: Bosnian admission rounds run in June-July and September, recognition for continuing studies takes weeks at the university, recognition for employment months at the ministries, and the apostille on a Georgian diploma can take up to five business days. Start the apostille early, since the apostilled diploma is reusable across the university and the ministry, and ask for a digital certified translation first so you can send it while the paper originals are in process.
