Malaysian students in Georgia: SPM, STPM and admission
Malaysian school leavers applying to Georgian universities - overwhelmingly to English-language medicine and dentistry programs - present the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), matriculation or foundation certificates, or A-levels and IB from Malaysian international schools, with their transcripts, legalized by Wisma Putra and the Georgian mission (the Ministry of Education's certification comes first) and translated into Georgian and notarized here, and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement recognizes the certificate for enrollment on the basis of the same documents, checking the years of schooling and the subjects; Malaysian certificates are bilingual Malay-English, and we translate from the Malay with the English checked. Transfer students from Malaysian universities bring transcripts and academic certificates for credit recognition. We translate the full set in a day, with the Malaysian grading scales (SPM's letter grades, STPM's CGPA, university GPAs) explained in a note, and we know which documents the Center and each university's international office expect.
Georgian medical degrees in Malaysia: the Malaysian Medical Council and the MQA
The document that matters most in this pair is the Georgian medical or dental degree going home. Malaysia recognizes foreign medical qualifications through the Malaysian Medical Council's list of recognized institutions under the Medical Act, and graduates of unlisted institutions must pass the Medical Qualifying Examination before provisional registration and housemanship; dental graduates go through the Malaysian Dental Council on similar terms. Which Georgian universities and programs appear on the lists changes, and we do not advise on it - the councils and the universities' Malaysian student offices do - but we translate the documents the councils require: the degree certificate, the full transcript with clinical hours, the curriculum, the internship certificate, the Georgian state certification exam result and letters from the faculty confirming the mode and duration of study, legalized through the chain and translated into English or Malay by physician translators. The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) assesses foreign qualifications for other purposes, including public-sector employment and further study, with the same document set.
Malaysian and Bruneian degrees in Georgia
A Malaysian or Bruneian degree used in Georgia - for a work permit, for a teaching, engineering or medical position, for admission to a Georgian master's or doctoral program, or for recognition at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - must be legalized through the chain and translated into Georgian and notarized in Tbilisi. We translate the degree certificate (ijazah), the academic transcript and, when recognition is sought, course descriptions, from the Malay with the English checked, with Malaysian degree titles (diploma, sarjana muda, sarjana, doktor falsafah) and the MQA's qualification levels explained in a translator's note. Singaporean degrees, in English, are handled by our English team after apostille by the Singapore Academy of Law. Malaysian teachers at international schools in Tbilisi and Malaysian engineers on regional projects are the largest groups here.
Georgian students in Malaysia: universities, Islamic institutions and Education Malaysia
Georgian applicants to Malaysian universities - Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, the International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and private universities such as Taylor's, Sunway, Monash Malaysia and Nottingham Malaysia - apply through the universities and Education Malaysia Global Services with the diploma and transcript in the original and in English translation, proof of English, and for undergraduate programs the Georgian school leaving certificate assessed for equivalence; Georgian Muslim students also attend Islamic institutions in Malaysia. Universities accept certified translations at application and legalized documents at enrollment, and the student pass requires the offer letter, the medical screening and the legalized documents. We translate the full Georgian packet in one business day and run the legalization chain for enrollment.
School certificates, student letters and professional certificates
Malaysian families in Tbilisi enroll children in international schools with Malaysian school records translated; Georgian families in Malaysia need Georgian school records translated for Malaysian and international schools. Students need enrollment letters and student status letters in the other language for passes, permits and banks. Malaysian professional certificates - in halal auditing, engineering (Board of Engineers Malaysia), accounting, hospitality and Islamic finance - are translated for Georgian employers and work permits, and Georgian professional certificates for Malaysian employers.
Statements of purpose, recommendations, research documents and timing
Georgian applicants to Malaysian programs and Malaysian applicants to Georgian ones ask us to translate or edit statements of purpose and CVs in English, and to translate recommendation letters from professors while preserving the signature block; doctoral candidates need research proposals, thesis abstracts and publication lists translated, and researchers collaborating on halal science, Islamic finance, medical and tourism topics use our editors for articles. Native Malay and English editors with academic backgrounds handle these texts.
On timing: Georgian admission runs through the summer, the Center's recognition of school certificates takes weeks and is best started before arrival, the legalization chain for a Georgian medical degree takes two to four weeks, Malaysian intakes run in February, July and September, and the Malaysian Medical Council's processes take months. Start the legalization of a degree the week of graduation, and ask for a digital certified translation first so that an application can proceed while the paper chain runs.
