Recognition of Georgian diplomas by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation

A Georgian degree used in Uzbekistan for employment, for state service, for further study or for professional licensing goes through recognition (tan olish / nostrifikatsiya) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, applied for through the ministry's electronic system or a public service center with the apostilled diploma and Diploma Supplement or transcript, a notarized translation into Uzbek, the applicant's attestat and passport, and for some cases the curriculum; the ministry checks the Georgian university's accreditation, the program's level, duration and content and the mode of study, and it has become stricter about programs it considers too short or delivered remotely. Recognition is required for employment in state bodies and increasingly asked for by private employers, and Uzbek graduates of Georgian universities are now a large annual cohort. We translate the Georgian packet in the ministry's format, with hours and credits shown as its assessors expect and subject names rendered in the Uzbek education vocabulary, and we batch graduates' packets each summer for the Georgian education verification and apostille.

Medical, dental and pharmacy graduates: the Ministry of Health route

Medicine is the largest Uzbek program in Georgia, and Uzbek graduates of Georgian medical, dental and pharmacy faculties face a longer route home: recognition of the diploma by the Ministry of Higher Education, then the Ministry of Health's procedures for admitting foreign-trained doctors to clinical ordinatura, residency and practice, which examine the curriculum, clinical hours and the internship or residency completed in Georgia, and which may require examination. The document set is correspondingly larger: the diploma and supplement, the full transcript with clinical hours, the curriculum of the program, the internship or residency certificate, the Georgian state certification exam result where the graduate has one, and letters from the faculty confirming the mode of study. We translate these with our medical translators, who are physicians, so that clinical subjects are rendered in the terminology Uzbek medical institutes use, and we keep a graduate's file consistent across the years the route can take.

Uzbek attestats and diplomas in Georgia: admission, transfer and recognition

For admission, the Uzbek attestat, lyceum diploma or college diploma with transcript is apostilled by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, translated into Georgian and notarized here, and submitted to the university and, through it, to the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement for recognition of the school certificate, which is a condition of enrollment and checks the years of schooling and the document's authenticity. Transfer students from Uzbek universities bring diplomas, transcripts and academic certificates for credit recognition, and graduates of Uzbek universities who want a Georgian master's or doctoral program or a Georgian work permit as a specialist bring their Uzbek diploma (bakalavr, magistr, or the older mutaxassis) apostilled by the Ministry of Higher Education. We translate all of these directly from Uzbek or Russian, with the Uzbek grading scale and degree titles explained in a note, and we know which documents the Center and each university's international office expect.

Curricula, hours and what ministries actually check

Both ministries read beyond the diploma. The Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education looks at total hours, at whether the program was four, five or six years, at the ratio of theory to practice and at whether study was in person; Georgian universities issue the Diploma Supplement in English with ECTS credits, and Uzbek assessors want hours, so we add the hours where the university provides them and translate the curriculum (o'quv rejasi) when the graduate's advisor recommends it. The Georgian Center looks at years of schooling under whichever Uzbek system the applicant completed. We prepare the translations so that the checking officer finds what they look for without asking for more, and we advise graduates on which supplementary letters from their faculty tend to be requested.

Language certificates, student letters and vocational qualifications

Georgian universities' certificates of Georgian and English language proficiency, preparatory program certificates and enrollment letters are translated into Uzbek or Russian for Uzbek authorities, the military registration offices that track students' deferments, and families; Uzbek certificates of Russian or English proficiency are translated into Georgian for admission. Uzbek vocational college diplomas and professional certificates of Uzbek workers on Georgian sites are translated for employers and work permits; Georgian vocational certificates are translated for Georgians working in Uzbekistan.

Motivation letters, recommendations, research documents and timing

Uzbek applicants to Georgian master's and doctoral programs ask us to translate or edit motivation letters and CVs in Georgian or English, and to translate recommendation letters from Uzbek professors while preserving the signature block; doctoral candidates need research proposals, thesis abstracts and publication lists translated, and Uzbek and Georgian researchers collaborating on medical, agricultural, energy and transit topics use our editors for articles. Native Uzbek, Russian and English editors with academic backgrounds handle these texts.

On timing: Georgian admission runs through the summer, the Center's recognition of attestats takes weeks and is best started before arrival, the Georgian education verification and apostille of a diploma take up to five business days, the Uzbek ministry's recognition weeks to months, and the Ministry of Health's route for medical graduates longer. Start the apostille of the diploma the week of graduation, since the apostilled diploma is reusable across ministries and employers, and ask for a digital certified translation first so that an employer or a further-study application can proceed while the paper originals are in process.

Uzbek translation - frequently asked questions

Will the Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education recognize my Georgian diploma?+
It depends on the university's accreditation, the program's length and content and the mode of study; the ministry has become stricter. We translate the packet in the format its assessors expect and advise on supplementary documents, but the decision is the ministry's.
I graduated in medicine in Tbilisi. What do you translate for Uzbekistan?+
The diploma and supplement, the transcript with clinical hours, the curriculum, the internship or residency certificate and any licensing documents, into Uzbek by physician translators, apostilled. We keep the file consistent across the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Health stages.
Does the Georgian Center accept a lyceum diploma as a school certificate?+
Yes, together with the nine-year basic education certificate, since the two together document eleven years of schooling. Both must be apostilled; we translate them together.
How long does a full diploma packet take?+
Translation of the diploma, supplement and transcript in one to two business days; the Georgian education verification and apostille add up to five business days. We batch graduates' packets each summer.
