Passports, căn cước công dân and driving licenses

The passport is the first document every Vietnamese citizen in Georgia needs translated: for the residence permit, for university enrollment, for opening a bank account, for a lease, for a SIM contract at some operators and for marriage. We translate and notarize the Vietnamese passport, the căn cước công dân (citizen identity card, including the chip-based version with its QR data) and older chứng minh nhân dân cards from a clear photo, without the original and without legalization, and courier the notarized translation to you - the only fully online notarized translation in Tbilisi. Vietnamese driving licenses (giấy phép lái xe), including the bilingual card format, are translated for the Service Agency, for rental and insurance companies and for employers whose workers will drive. The Georgian spelling of your name is fixed at the first translation and kept on file, with the accented Vietnamese form recorded alongside it.

Lý lịch tư pháp: the judicial record certificate

Required for every Georgian temporary residence permit - student and work permits alike - and for many employment contracts. The lý lịch tư pháp is issued by the provincial Department of Justice or the National Center for Judicial Records, as certificate No. 1 (for the individual's own use) or No. 2 (with full record, sometimes requested by employers), and since 2023 it can be requested online through the VNeID app. It must be consular-legalized in Vietnam and by the Georgian mission before we translate and notarize it. Validity is limited and Georgian practice treats a certificate older than a few months with suspicion, so start the request early enough for the legalization chain but not so early that it expires. We translate the certificate and both legalization certifications in full and notarize the same day the legalized original arrives.

Giấy khai sinh, giấy chứng nhận kết hôn and other civil status documents

Birth certificates are needed in Georgia for family residence permits, for adding a child to a permit, for school enrollment and for inheritance; marriage certificates for spouse residence permits and for some bank and property purposes; death certificates and divorce decisions for inheritance and remarriage. All are issued by the commune or district People's Committee (Ủy ban nhân dân) and must be consular-legalized before translation; bilingual Vietnamese-English extracts (bản sao trích lục) are often issued and are acceptable if the Vietnamese original is legalized. In the other direction, Georgian certificates for children born in Tbilisi to Vietnamese parents, and Georgian marriage certificates for couples who married in Georgia, are translated into Vietnamese, notarized and legalized for Vietnamese citizenship, passports and registration at home. Every translation reproduces the certificate field by field, including stamps and the People's Committee seal text.

Marital status certificates and marriage in Georgia

To marry in Georgia, a Vietnamese citizen presents a giấy xác nhận tình trạng hôn nhân (certificate of marital status) issued by the commune People's Committee, legalized in Vietnam and by the Georgian mission, and translated and notarized here; divorced applicants add the court's divorce decision. The certificate is valid for six months in Vietnam and Georgian offices apply a similar window, so the timing of legalization matters. After the marriage, the Georgian marriage certificate is translated into Vietnamese, notarized and legalized for registration in Vietnam (ghi chú kết hôn), which Vietnamese law requires for the marriage to be recognized there. We prepare both halves of this file as one order and know the sequence, which is the usual source of delays.

Bank statements, employment documents and proof of income

Georgian banks and the Public Service Development Agency want proof of income and, for banks, an explanation of where money comes from. We translate Vietnamese bank statements from Vietcombank, BIDV, Techcombank, VietinBank and others, employment contracts, income confirmations, tax records, sponsorship letters from parents for student permits, and property documents. Bank statements and private documents need no legalization. Figures are checked twice, and for long statements we translate the header, totals and relevant transactions rather than every line when the receiving bank permits. Turnaround is same day, because accounts and applications are usually waiting on these documents.

How to send documents and receive the notarized translations

Send photos of every page, both sides, with stamps legible, on WhatsApp, Zalo or Telegram; we reply in Vietnamese or English within 15 minutes with a fixed quote and, for public documents, an explanation of the legalization chain and its timing. Passports, ID cards, driving licenses and bank statements need nothing further. For other documents the notary must see the legalized original, which you bring to Agmashenebeli 117 near Marjanishvili Metro when the translation is ready, or courier to us from Batumi, Kutaisi or a work site. Delivery is by scan the moment the notary signs, by collection at the office, by courier in Tbilisi the same day, or by courier to any Georgian city the next day. Most personal documents are finished within the same afternoon once the legalized originals are in hand.

Vietnamese translation - frequently asked questions

Do you need my original passport?+
No. A clear photo of the data page is enough for a notarized passport translation. The same applies to driving licenses and the căn cước công dân.
Does the lý lịch tư pháp need legalization?+
Yes. It is legalized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a provincial Department of Foreign Affairs and then by the Georgian mission before we translate and notarize it.
Can a sponsorship letter from my parents be translated without legalization?+
Yes. Private letters and bank statements are translated and notarized directly; only public documents need the consular chain.
How long is a marital status certificate valid for marriage in Georgia?+
Vietnam issues it for six months and Georgian offices apply a similar window, so plan the legalization chain to finish well within that period.
