Notarized and Certified Catalan Translation - Traductors Jurats, the Generalitat, Andorra and the Georgian Notary
Catalonia has its own register of sworn translators for Catalan, Spain has a national one for Spanish, Andorra recognizes both, and Georgia notarizes translations. We produce the Georgian format for Georgian authorities in 1-2 hours, and Catalan translations built for the Generalitat, Catalan universities and Andorra, with sworn re-certification where they ask.

Two sworn registers and the Georgian notarized translation
Spain's traductores-intérpretes jurados are appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for translation between Spanish and a foreign language, and their traducción jurada is what national offices require. Catalonia has a parallel system: the Generalitat's Direcció General de Política Lingüística habilitates traductors i intèrprets jurats for translation between Catalan and other languages, and their traducció jurada has the same official standing before the Generalitat, Catalan courts and municipalities. Neither register has anyone for Georgian, so Georgian documents have traditionally gone through Spanish or English relay translations. Both Spanish and Catalan authorities also accept translations made abroad when they are certified by a notary and apostilled, or certified by a Spanish consulate, which is what a Georgian notarized translation with apostille is. Andorra, which has no sworn register of its own, accepts sworn translations from Spain and France and notarized, apostilled translations from abroad. Georgia has the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered as competent in Catalan.
We translate the Georgian original into Catalan here, notarize it, apostille the original and, where a Catalan or Andorran office asks for a sworn stamp, forward the text to a partner traductor jurat in Barcelona habilitated for Catalan-English, who certifies it against the apostilled Georgian original with an English bridge. A traducció jurada from Catalonia is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign document; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.
The Generalitat and the ajuntaments: arrelament, reagrupament and empadronament
Spain's residence permits for third-country nationals are decided by the national Oficinas de Extranjería, but in Catalonia two key inputs come from Catalan institutions in Catalan. The informe d'arrelament social (and its variants under the 2025 immigration regulation) is issued by the Generalitat's Secretaria d'Igualtat, Migracions i Ciutadania on the basis of a report from the ajuntament, and it assesses integration, including knowledge of Catalan and Spanish and participation in the community; the informe d'adequació de l'habitatge for reagrupament familiar is issued by the ajuntament and confirms the home meets the standard for the family. Both are requested with Georgian documents - birth and marriage certificates, school records, proof of family - translated into Catalan or Spanish, and the Generalitat's officers read either. The certificat d'empadronament from the ajuntament, in Catalan, is the document every Georgian in Catalonia presents everywhere, and it is translated into Georgian for Georgian banks, the Revenue Service and family matters at home. We prepare these sets in Catalan and Spanish together where the file goes to both the Generalitat and Extranjería, with your name's transliteration identical across every document.
Registre Civil, marriage, nationality and Catalan-language certificates
The Registre Civil in Catalonia is part of the Spanish national registry, and its certificates - certificat de naixement, de matrimoni, de defunció, de fe de vida i estat - are issued bilingually in Catalan and Spanish; Georgian authorities accept them apostilled and translated into Georgian, and we translate from the Catalan or Spanish column as appropriate, noting where the two differ. Marriage in Catalonia between a Georgian and a Spanish or foreign resident goes through the expedient matrimonial at the Registre Civil with the Georgian birth certificate, certificate of marital status and, if applicable, divorce decisions, apostilled and translated; the Registre Civil accepts Catalan or Spanish, and where the jutge encarregat asks for a sworn translation we arrange it. Nationality by residence is a national procedure requiring translations into Spanish, the DELE A2 and CCSE tests, and the Georgian conviction certificate; Catalan language knowledge is not required for nationality but is valued for arrelament. Civil partnerships registered in the Registre de parelles estables de Catalunya are documented in Catalan and translated into Georgian for Georgian residence permits of the partner.
Andorra: Immigració, Registre Civil, Batllia and banks
Andorra issues its own residence permits through the Servei d'Immigració - for employees with a work contract, for passive residents with investment, for self-employed professionals - and requires the Georgian passport, an apostilled Georgian conviction certificate, civil status certificates for family members, diplomas and a medical certificate, translated into Catalan; the Govern accepts sworn translations from Spain or France and notarized, apostilled translations from abroad. Andorra's Registre Civil handles marriage and civil unions with the same Georgian documents; the Batllia (the court of first instance) and Andorran notaries require translations for proceedings and escriptures; and Andorran banks, which apply strict compliance, ask for translated proof of origin of funds, company documents and tax certificates. Andorran documents for Georgia - passports, permisos de conduir, certificats del Registre Civil, certificats d'antecedents penals, extractes from the Registre de Societats, escriptures - are apostilled by the Ministeri d'Afers Exteriors in Andorra la Vella and translated into Georgian and notarized here.
Catalan documents for Georgian authorities
Any Catalan-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are Andorran passports and permisos de conduir (translated from a photo, no visit needed), Registre Civil certificates from Catalonia and Andorra, certificats d'antecedents penals, certificats d'empadronament, títols and expedients acadèmics from Catalan universities for work permits and recognition, informes d'alta from Catalan hospitals for insurers and the Social Service Agency, extractes from the Registre Mercantil and Andorran company documents for company registration, escriptures and poders signed before Catalan and Andorran notaries, contractes de treball and nòmines for proof of income, and certificats from the Agència Tributària de Catalunya and the Govern d'Andorra. Spanish-issued documents carry the apostille of a Colegio Notarial, the Tribunal Superior de Justícia de Catalunya or the Ministry of Justice; Andorran ones the apostille of the Ministeri d'Afers Exteriors. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.
Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough
Not every recipient needs the notary or the sworn stamp. Catalan universities for initial admission, employers, landlords, insurers, the Servei Català de la Salut for registration and online portals accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. Extranjería, the Registre Civil, courts, the Andorran Govern and Batllia, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized and re-certified one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online - the Generalitat's tràmits portal, university portals, Andorra's e-tràmits - we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.
