🇦🇩 Catalan translation in Tbilisi
Catalan-Georgian Translation Services in Tbilisi - For Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearics and Andorra
Barcelona is one of the largest Georgian communities in Spain, and much of what its administration, universities and hospitals issue is written in Catalan, not Spanish. Andorra, where Catalan is the only official language, has its own passports, registry, banks and apostille. We translate Catalan-language documents into Georgian and Georgian documents into Catalan for the Generalitat, Catalan universities, Andorran authorities and Georgian offices, and we know when Spanish is the better target and when it is not.

Catalan and Georgian: Barcelona's Georgian community, Catalan institutions and Andorra
Catalonia is where a large share of Spain's Georgian community lives - in Barcelona and its metropolitan belt, in Girona, Tarragona and Lleida - working in hospitality, construction, logistics, care and increasingly in technology and services, and a smaller Georgian presence exists in Valencia, Alicante and the Balearic Islands. Spain's immigration law is national, but the documents that Georgians in Catalonia actually handle are often Catalan: the informe d'arrelament and informe d'adequació de l'habitatge issued by the Generalitat and the ajuntaments for arraigo and family reunification, the padró (empadronament) certificate, school records from the Catalan education system, the informe d'alta from a hospital of the Institut Català de la Salut, diplomas and expedients acadèmics from the University of Barcelona, the Autònoma, the Politècnica and Pompeu Fabra, and escriptures signed before Catalan notaries. Registre Civil certificates issued in Catalonia are bilingual, and the Catalan text sometimes carries information the Spanish column abbreviates.
Andorra is a separate case entirely. Catalan is its only official language; Andorran passports, certificats del Registre Civil, certificats d'antecedents penals, company extracts from the Registre de Societats and bank documents are in Catalan; Andorra is not in the EU but has been a Hague Apostille member since 1996 and issues apostilles through its Ministeri d'Afers Exteriors. Spain certifies translations through traductors jurats appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Spanish and, for Catalan, through traductors i intèrprets jurats habilitated by the Generalitat's Direcció General de Política Lingüística; none of either kind has been appointed for Georgian. Georgia has the notarized translation. Our Catalan team at David Agmashenebeli Ave 117 - Georgian sworn translators trained in Barcelona, native Catalan editors and a partner traductor jurat in Barcelona for the re-certification Spanish and Andorran offices sometimes ask for - connects these systems.
Translation directions for Catalan, and when Spanish serves better
- Georgian → Catalan: birth, marriage and death certificates, conviction certificates, diplomas and transcripts, court decisions, Public Registry extracts, medical records and contracts for Catalan universities, the Generalitat, Catalan municipalities, Andorran authorities and Catalan-speaking employers. Notarized in Tbilisi and apostilled, prepared for traductor jurat re-certification where required.
- Catalan → Georgian: Andorran passports and permisos de conduir, certificats del Registre Civil, certificats d'antecedents penals, certificats d'empadronament, títols and expedients acadèmics, informes d'alta, extractes del Registre Mercantil, escriptures, poders, contractes de treball and extractes bancaris entering the Georgian system, always notarized in Georgia. Passports and driving licenses are translated from a photo without a visit.
- Catalan ↔ Spanish and English: for documents that must reach both the Generalitat and a national Spanish office, or an Andorran and an international recipient.
Spanish national offices - the Oficinas de Extranjería, the Ministerio de Justicia for nationality, the Ministry of Education for homologation, the courts outside Catalonia - work in Spanish, and for those a Georgian document should be translated into Spanish, which our Spanish team handles. Catalan is the right target for the Generalitat, Catalan universities and municipalities, Andorra and for employers and institutions that operate in Catalan. We advise which target serves each file, and often deliver both.
