Registering a Georgian company with Greek or Cypriot founders
A Greek Α.Ε., Ε.Π.Ε. or Ι.Κ.Ε. founding a Georgian subsidiary, branch or representative office submits a Georgian translation of its ΓΕΜΗ certificate (πιστοποιητικό ΓΕΜΗ or γενικό πιστοποιητικό), its καταστατικό, the απόφαση of the διοικητικό συμβούλιο or γενική συνέλευση approving the Georgian entity, and a πληρεξούσιο if a local representative files; ΓΕΜΗ documents are apostilled by the Decentralized Administration and notarial πληρεξούσια by the Πρωτοδικείο. Cypriot companies, which are the more common investment vehicle, submit the certificate of incorporation, certificate of directors and shareholders, certificate of registered office, memorandum and articles, a board resolution and a power of attorney, apostilled by the Cypriot Ministry of Justice, usually in English with Greek elements. All are notarized in Tbilisi. We draft the Georgian charter bilingually so the founder signs a text they can read, and after registration we translate the Georgian Public Registry extract and charter into Greek or English for the parent, its bank and its auditors.
Συμβάσεις between Greek, Cypriot and Georgian parties
Georgian law permits contracts in any language, but the Georgian version is what a registry or court reads, so cross-border contracts are drafted bilingually in parallel columns, with English as a third column for Cypriot structures. We translate συμβάσεις πώλησης for property and equipment, μισθωτήρια, συμβάσεις εργασίας for Greek staff seconded to Georgia and Georgian workers recruited to Greece, συμβάσεις προμήθειας and διανομής for wine, food and construction materials, ναυλοσύμφωνα and shipping agency agreements, συμβάσεις παροχής υπηρεσιών, συμφωνίες μετόχων for Cypriot holding structures, δανειακές συμβάσεις and εγγυήσεις, συμφωνίες εμπιστευτικότητας and συμβάσεις δικαιόχρησης for Greek brands in Tbilisi. The translator is a legal specialist who keeps defined terms and numbering consistent and flags where a Greek concept under the Αστικός Κώδικας - παρακράτηση κυριότητας, ποινική ρήτρα, certain forms of εγγύηση - needs a lawyer's decision on the Georgian equivalent rather than a translator's guess.
Shipping, ports and trade documents
Greek-owned and Greek-managed vessels call at Poti, Batumi and Kulevi, and Greek shipping agents, P&I correspondents and surveyors deal with Georgian port authorities, customs, the Maritime Transport Agency and local agents. We translate charter parties, bills of lading, agency agreements, port documentation, survey reports, protests and claims correspondence between Greek, Georgian and English, with translators who know both maritime English and the Georgian port vocabulary, on the short deadlines that vessel operations impose. Trade generates certificates of origin, EUR.1 certificates, conformity declarations, customs declarations and phytosanitary and veterinary certificates for Georgian agricultural exports to Greece and Cyprus, translated for exporters, importers and the Revenue Service customs department, with bulk rates for regular traders.
Inheritance across the diaspora, and court judgments
Inheritance is the legal file most specific to this pair. Georgians who died in Greece leaving property in Georgia, Pontic Greeks in Greece inheriting houses in Tsalka, and Georgian heirs to relatives' estates in Athens all need death certificates, chains of birth and marriage certificates proving kinship, wills, Greek κληρονομητήρια or Georgian inheritance certificates, court decisions establishing legal facts, and Soviet-era house books and archive records translated, notarized and apostilled for the συμβολαιογράφος or notary on the other side; Greek δηλώσεις αποδοχής κληρονομιάς and the ΕΝΦΙΑ implications of Greek property are explained for Georgian heirs. Greek judgments in family, commercial and succession matters are recognized in Georgia with notarized Georgian translations of the απόφαση, the πιστοποιητικό τελεσιδικίας and supporting documents, apostilled by the Πρωτοδικείο; Georgian judgments go the other way for εκτέλεση in Greece or Cyprus. Litigation and arbitration files are handled under NDA with restricted access.
Financial statements, tax documents and Cypriot structures
Georgian subsidiaries of Greek and Cypriot groups report to head office under IFRS and Greek or Cypriot GAAP, and investors present accounts to Georgian banks and the Revenue Service. We translate οικονομικές καταστάσεις, ισολογισμοί, εκθέσεις ορκωτών ελεγκτών, πιστοποιητικά φορολογικής κατοικίας for treaty relief under the Greece-Georgia and Cyprus-Georgia double taxation agreements, ΦΠΑ documents, transfer pricing files and bank confirmation letters, with accountants on the team reconciling every figure. Cypriot tax residency certificates and audited accounts for Georgian bank compliance are a frequent request from investors using Cypriot holding companies.
Tenders, confidentiality and how corporate projects run
Greek and Cypriot companies bid on Georgian state tenders in construction, energy and tourism infrastructure through the State Procurement Agency's Georgian-language system, submitting translated company documents, reference lists, technical proposals and bank guarantees within days of the notice; we staff tender projects as a team.
Every translator, editor and courier is bound by a non-disclosure agreement, files are encrypted and access is limited to the assigned team; we sign client-specific NDAs and GDPR-compliant data processing agreements for Greek and Cypriot clients. Corporate clients receive a glossary and translation memory from the first project. Projects run in a fixed pattern: fixed quote within the hour, a legal or financial specialist plus a reviewer, questions returned in a single batch, delivery in the original format, and notarization and apostille scheduled in parallel with translation. Framework agreements with monthly invoicing and priority notary slots are available for shipping agents, Cypriot corporate service providers, law firms and diaspora business associations.
