Διαβατήρια, ταυτότητες and διπλώματα οδήγησης
Greek and Cypriot passports and ταυτότητες are translated into Georgian for residence permits, company registration, property purchases, bank accounts, lease agreements and marriage at the House of Justice. Because these are standardized documents, we translate and notarize them from a clear photo, without the original, and courier the notarized translation anywhere in Georgia or abroad. Greek and Cypriot διπλώματα οδήγησης are translated for the Service Agency when exchanging or presenting a license, and for rental and insurance companies. Transliteration of your name into Georgian is fixed at the first translation and kept on file so every subsequent document matches, following the ELOT 743 Latin form printed in Greek passports; for Pontic Greeks whose surnames exist in Greek, Russian and Georgian forms, we record all three and use the passport form.
Ληξιαρχικές πράξεις γέννησης, γάμου and θανάτου
Greek civil status documents come as ληξιαρχική πράξη (full act), απόσπασμα (extract) and πιστοποιητικό from the δημοτολόγιο, and Georgian authorities want the ληξιαρχική πράξη or απόσπασμα, apostilled by the Decentralized Administration, translated and notarized here. They are needed for marriage registration in Georgia, for adding a spouse or child to a residence permit, for inheritance and for divorce proceedings; divorce is evidenced by the court decision or, since 2018, the notarial divorce act, apostilled by the Πρωτοδικείο. In the other direction, Georgian birth, marriage and death certificates go to Greek ληξιαρχεία for marriage and to the Ειδικό Ληξιαρχείο for registration of foreign births and marriages of Greek citizens, to the Ministry of Migration for family reunification and to συμβολαιογράφοι for inheritance; these are apostilled, translated into Greek and re-certified by the Register or a lawyer. Every translation mirrors the original field by field, including the παρατηρήσεις, which ληξίαρχοι check.
Ποινικό μητρώο and the Georgian conviction certificate
Georgian temporary residence permits require a criminal record check from the applicant's country. For Greek citizens that is the αντίγραφο ποινικού μητρώου, issued through gov.gr with an electronic apostille; for Cypriots the certificate from the police, apostilled by the Ministry of Justice. We translate it into Georgian and notarize it in 1-2 hours, including the electronic verification data. Georgians applying for the άδεια διαμονής, family reunification, citizenship or jobs in Greece need their Georgian conviction certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs apostilled and translated into Greek; Greek authorities accept it for a few months, so we treat it as express work and arrange Register certification where the Ministry of Migration requires it.
Πιστοποιητικό αγαμίας, marriage and the Ειδικό Ληξιαρχείο
A Georgian marrying in Greece presents to the ληξιαρχείο the Georgian birth certificate, a marital status certificate serving as πιστοποιητικό αγαμίας, proof of residence and, if previously married, divorce decisions, all apostilled and officially translated; the ληξιαρχείο wants recently issued documents. Religious marriages in the Greek Orthodox Church additionally require the Georgian Orthodox baptism certificate translated for the Μητρόπολη. A Greek citizen marrying in Georgia presents a πιστοποιητικό αγαμίας from their δήμος, apostilled, translated into Georgian and notarized. We prepare both sets and know the validity windows. After a marriage in Georgia, the Greek spouse registers it at the Ειδικό Ληξιαρχείο through the embassy with the apostilled and translated Georgian certificate, which we include in the same order.
Soviet-era records for ομογενείς, citizenship and pensions
The documents that matter most in this pair are often the oldest. Pontic Greeks proving Greek descent for ομογενείς recognition or citizenship, and Georgians of any origin proving employment for ΕΦΚΑ pension rights, rely on Soviet-era Georgian records: ZAGS birth, marriage and death certificates in Russian and Georgian, house books, work books (трудовые книжки), military cards, school records, kolkhoz and enterprise archive extracts, and Greek Orthodox baptism records where they survive. These are handwritten or typed, stamped and often faded. Our translators read Soviet administrative handwriting in both languages, reproduce every stamp and annotation, mark genuinely illegible words rather than guess, and add a translator's note reconciling the Greek surname with its Russian and Georgian spellings. Where originals are lost, we request duplicates and archive extracts from the Georgian civil registry and the National Archives on your behalf.
Child travel consents, βεβαιώσεις κατοικίας, bank documents, and how to order
Georgian border police require a notarized consent from the non-travelling parent when a minor leaves Georgia with one parent, and Greek authorities ask for an υπεύθυνη δήλωση συναίνεσης in comparable cases. We draft bilingual consents at our notary with an interpreter and translate consents issued in Greece for use at Georgian borders and schools. Βεβαιώσεις μόνιμης κατοικίας, Ε1 tax returns and other proof of address are requested by Georgian banks and by the Revenue Service for tax residency, and Georgian residence certificates are translated into Greek for ΑΑΔΕ and ΕΦΚΑ. Proof of income - τραπεζικές κινήσεις from Alpha, Eurobank, Piraeus and National Bank of Greece, Cypriot bank statements, συμβάσεις εργασίας, εκκαθαριστικά and pension statements - is translated for Georgian residence permits and property purchases, and Georgian statements into Greek for the Ministry of Migration.
