🇮🇱 Hebrew translation in Tbilisi
Hebrew-Georgian Translation Services in Tbilisi - For Israel, Its Travelers, Its Investors and the Couples Who Marry Here
Israelis are among the most numerous visitors to Georgia, the largest group of foreign couples who marry here, active buyers of Batumi apartments, and heirs to a Georgian-Jewish community that moved to Israel in tens of thousands. Georgians work in Israel as caregivers and claim citizenship through Georgian-Jewish roots. We translate between Hebrew and Georgian with native speakers, handle right-to-left documents and Hebrew dates, and know what Misrad HaPnim, the Rabbinate and the Georgian House of Justice each need.

Hebrew and Georgian: a community, a marriage market and a great deal of travel
Georgian Jews lived in Georgia for twenty-six centuries and most of them moved to Israel in the 1970s and 1990s, leaving a community of over a hundred thousand Israelis with Georgian roots, Georgian relatives, Georgian property claims and Georgian documents in family archives. Israelis travel to Georgia in enormous numbers - it is one of the closest, cheapest and friendliest destinations from Ben Gurion - and many buy apartments in Batumi and Tbilisi, open restaurants and businesses, and invest in agriculture and real estate. Because Israel has no civil marriage, Israeli couples who cannot or do not wish to marry through the Rabbinate come to Georgia to marry at the House of Justice, and Georgia has become one of the main destinations for these weddings. In the other direction, Georgians work in Israel as caregivers under the bilateral labor agreement, study, marry Israelis, and apply for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return through Georgian-Jewish ancestry. Each connection produces documents in Hebrew - right to left, with Hebrew calendar dates alongside Gregorian ones - that Georgian authorities need in Georgian, and documents in Georgian that Israeli authorities need in Hebrew.
Israel has no sworn-translator system; translations for Israeli authorities are certified by a notary (נוטריון) under the Notaries Law, either as a notarial translation the notary vouches for or as a translator's declaration the notary certifies, and Israel is a Hague Apostille member with apostilles from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the courts. Georgia has the notarized translation. Our Hebrew team at David Agmashenebeli Ave 117 - native Hebrew speakers, several of them Georgian-Israeli and bilingual from childhood, registered with the notary - handles all of this daily.
Translation directions for Hebrew
- Hebrew → Georgian: דרכונים (passports) and תעודות זהות (ID cards) with the ספח, רישיונות נהיגה (driving licenses), תמצית רישום (population registry extracts), תעודות לידה and נישואין, תעודת יושר (police certificate), תעודות גמר and גיליונות ציונים (diplomas and transcripts), תדפיס רשם החברות (company registry extracts), ייפויי כוח (powers of attorney), הסכמי עבודה, bank statements and medical records entering the Georgian system, always notarized in Georgia. Passports and driving licenses are translated from a photo without a visit.
- Georgian → Hebrew: Georgian marriage certificates for Misrad HaPnim registration, birth and death certificates, Georgian-Jewish community and archive records for Law of Return files, diplomas, court rulings, Public Registry extracts, medical records and contracts for Israeli authorities, courts, universities, hospitals and companies, notarized and apostilled.
- Hebrew ↔ English and Hebrew ↔ Russian: direct translation for Israeli companies working in English, for university admissions, and for the many Russian-speaking Israelis with Georgian connections.
Hebrew names are transliterated into Georgian consistently with the Latin spelling in the Israeli passport, with the Hebrew original kept in the reference line, and Hebrew calendar dates are converted with both shown.
What Israeli and Georgian authorities expect from each other's documents
Israel has been a Hague Apostille member since 1978 and Georgia since 2007, so a public document from either country is recognized in the other once apostilled; there is no consular legalization. Israeli apostilles are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem for public documents - Misrad HaPnim extracts and certificates, police certificates, Ministry of Education documents, company registry extracts - and by the secretariats of the magistrates' courts for notarial documents, including notarial translations; Misrad HaPnim extracts can be obtained already apostilled, and Israeli notaries can arrange court apostilles on their own documents. Israeli authorities - Misrad HaPnim, the Rabbinate, courts, the Ministry of Education, Bituach Leumi, universities - expect foreign documents apostilled and translated into Hebrew by a notarial translation or a notary-certified translator's declaration, and most will not accept a foreign translation without an Israeli notary's involvement. Georgian authorities require any Hebrew document translated into Georgian and notarized by a Georgian notary; an Israeli notarial translation is a foreign notarial act and is not accepted on its own.

How Israeli clients order, in Tbilisi and from Israel
Clients in Tbilisi send a photo on WhatsApp and receive a quote within 15 minutes, in Hebrew, English or Russian. For passports and driving licenses that is the end of the visit-free process: pay by card or transfer, and the courier brings the notarized translation. For other documents the notary must see the original, so you come to Agmashenebeli 117 once, when the translation is already prepared; couples marrying in Georgia usually do this the day before the ceremony. Clients in Batumi, where many Israelis stay and buy, send originals by courier and receive the finished documents back while our regional offices are being renovated. Clients in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa or Ashdod who need a Georgian document - a marriage certificate for Misrad HaPnim, an archive record for the Law of Return, a property extract - arrange for us to collect it or obtain it from a Georgian archive, and we translate, notarize, apostille and ship by DHL, which reaches Israel in two to three days.
