The Global Korea Scholarship and Korean university admission

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), run by the National Institute for International Education, admits Georgian students to Korean bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs through the embassy track and the university track, and its document list is precise: the school leaving certificate with national exam results or the diploma and transcript, apostilled, with translations into Korean or English certified by a notary or the issuing institution; proof of nationality of the applicant and parents; recommendation letters; a study plan; and language certificates (TOPIK or English). Korean universities admitting Georgian students directly follow similar lists and often require the translation to be notarized. We translate the Georgian packet into Korean or English as the applicant chooses, notarize it here, and arrange Korean 번역공증 where a university specifies it; the D-2 student visa at the Korean Embassy then requires the admission letter, proof of funds and the Georgian conviction certificate translated.

Korean transcripts and grading for Georgian universities

Korean students and graduates coming to Georgian universities - for English-language medical programs, for Georgian language and culture studies, and increasingly for master's programs - and Korean citizens seeking recognition of their degrees in Georgia present the 졸업증명서 (certificate of graduation) and 성적증명서 (transcript), issued by the university's online service or registrar, apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and translated and notarized here. Korean transcripts use a 4.3 or 4.5 GPA scale with letter grades and list courses by semester with credits, and we translate them course by course with the grading scale explained in a translator's note where the receiving institution asks. The 학위증명서 (degree certificate) and 재학증명서 (enrollment certificate) are translated for work permits, credit transfer and student residence permits.

Korean degrees for recognition and employment in Georgia

A Korean degree used in Georgia - for a work permit with a Korean company, for a teaching, engineering or medical position, for admission to a Georgian master's or doctoral program, or for recognition at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Georgian and notarized in Tbilisi. We translate the 학위증명서, the 성적증명서 and, when recognition is sought, course descriptions. Korean medical graduates should expect the recognition body to ask for the 의사면허증 (medical license) and specialist certification; engineers for 기술사 or 기사 certifications where relevant. Korean universities' English-language certificates are accepted as source documents where the Korean and English versions match; we translate from the Korean as the authoritative text and reconcile any differences.

Korean language and culture: TOPIK, King Sejong Institute and language visas

Georgian interest in Korean has produced a stream of language documents. TOPIK results are required for GKS, for Korean universities and for some Korean visas, and are translated into Georgian for Georgian employers and scholarship bodies; King Sejong Institute certificates and Korean language course records from Georgian universities are translated into Korean for D-4 language training visa applications and for Korean institutions. Georgians going to Korea for language training at university language institutes need the school leaving certificate or diploma, bank statements and the conviction certificate translated for the D-4 visa, and we prepare these sets to the embassy's checklist.

School certificates, Korean international schools and children's transfers

Korean families in Tbilisi enroll children in international schools or Georgian public schools with the 생활기록부 (school life record), 재학증명서 and 성적표 translated; schools generally accept certified translations for placement. Georgian families moving to Korea need Georgian school records translated into Korean for the 교육청 (education office) and the school, which places the child in the right grade; Korean schools also ask for vaccination records and a health certificate. Students need 재학증명서 and student status letters in the other language for visas, permits, banks and, for Korean men, the Military Manpower Administration.

Study plans, recommendations, CVs and timing

GKS and Korean university applications ask for a study plan and a personal statement, which Georgian applicants ask us to translate or edit in Korean or English so they read naturally to a Korean committee, and for recommendation letters from Georgian teachers and professors translated while preserving the signature block; Korean applications favor a specific structure and register that our native Korean editors know. Doctoral candidates need thesis abstracts and publication lists translated, and researchers collaborating with Korean universities use our editors for articles.

On timing: the GKS embassy track opens in February and March for the following autumn, Korean universities have spring and autumn intakes with deadlines months ahead, Korean notarization takes a few days, and the apostille on a Georgian diploma can take up to five business days. Start the apostille early, since the apostilled diploma is reusable, and ask for a digital certified translation first so you can upload it while the paper originals are in process.

Korean translation - frequently asked questions

Does GKS accept your notarized translations?+
Yes. GKS requires translations certified by a notary or the issuing institution, and our Georgian-notarized translations of apostilled documents meet this; where a university on the university track specifies Korean 번역공증, we arrange it.
Should I translate into Korean or English for a Korean university?+
Most accept either. English is often more useful because the same translation serves other applications; Korean is better for universities and departments that work only in Korean. We advise per case and can deliver both.
Do you translate the 성적증명서 with the GPA scale explained?+
Yes. Courses, credits and grades are translated in full, with the 4.3 or 4.5 scale explained in a translator's note where the receiving institution asks.
How long does a full academic packet take?+
Diploma, transcript and certificates are usually ready within one business day. Apostille adds up to five business days, and Korean notarization a few more where required.
