YÖK denklik: recognition of Georgian degrees in Turkey
A Georgian degree used in Turkey for employment, for a regulated profession or for postgraduate study goes through denklik (equivalence) at the Yükseköğretim Kurulu (YÖK) or, for secondary education, at the Ministry of National Education. YÖK's online denklik portal requires the apostilled diploma and transkript, a Turkish translation certified by a yeminli tercüman and noter, the diploma supplement, and for some fields course descriptions; it may then require a seviye tespit sınavı (level determination exam) or additional coursework, especially in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law and engineering. We translate the Georgian packet into Turkish using the terminology YÖK's evaluators expect for Georgian universities, keep glossaries for Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University, Tbilisi State Medical University, Batumi State University and others, and forward the text to a partner yeminli tercüman for the noter certification the portal requires.
Türkiye Bursları, YÖS and admission to Turkish universities
Georgian applicants to Turkish universities apply through the Türkiye Bursları scholarship program, through YÖS exams administered by individual universities, or directly for graduate programs. All require the Georgian school leaving certificate with national exam results, or the diploma and supplement for graduate programs, translated into Turkish or English; the application platforms accept certified translations with our stamp for the upload, and universities require apostilled originals with noter-certified translations at enrollment and for the öğrenci ikamet izni at the Göç İdaresi. Language certificates - TÖMER and Yunus Emre Institute Turkish proficiency certificates, or IELTS and TOEFL for English-language programs - are translated as required. We translate the full Georgian packet in one business day and prepare the enrollment set for re-certification in Turkey.
Turkish degrees for recognition and employment in Georgia
A Turkish degree used in Georgia - for a work permit with a Turkish construction or energy company, for a teaching, medical or engineering position, for admission to a Georgian master's or doctoral program, or for recognition at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement - must be apostilled by the kaymakamlık or valilik and translated into Georgian and notarized in Tbilisi. We translate the diploma, the transkript, the diploma eki (supplement) and, when recognition is sought, ders içerikleri (course descriptions). Turkish medical graduates should expect the recognition body to ask for the uzmanlık belgesi and Sağlık Bakanlığı registration; engineers for the TMMOB chamber registration. Turkish university documents are often available from e-Devlet as öğrenci belgesi and mezuniyet belgesi with QR codes, which most Georgian offices accept translated without apostille.
School certificates, e-Okul records and children's transfers
Turkish families in Batumi and Tbilisi enroll children in Turkish-language private schools, international schools or Georgian public schools with the child's e-Okul records, karne (report cards), öğrenci belgesi and diploma translated; schools generally accept certified translations for placement, and the Ministry of Education's recognition of prior schooling requires notarized ones. Georgian families moving to Turkey need Georgian school records translated into Turkish for the Ministry of National Education's denklik for secondary education, which places the child in the right grade. Student status letters are translated in both directions for consulates, banks, military registration offices in Turkey and family benefit applications.
Vocational qualifications, ustalık belgesi and construction trades
Turkish construction and manufacturing companies in Georgia bring skilled workers whose qualifications - ustalık belgesi, kalfalık belgesi, MYK mesleki yeterlilik belgesi, welding and crane operator certificates, occupational safety training certificates - must be translated into Georgian for work permits and for Georgian labor and safety inspectors. We translate these in batches for arriving crews with consistent terminology. Georgian workers going to Turkey need Georgian vocational certificates translated into Turkish for employers and for the MYK, and Georgian nurses and caregivers heading to Turkish hospitals and care homes need their diplomas and work records translated for the Sağlık Bakanlığı's recognition procedure.
Motivation letters, CVs, recommendations, academic writing and timing
Georgian applicants to Turkish programs ask us to translate or edit niyet mektupları (motivation letters) and CVs to Turkish conventions, and to translate referans mektupları from Georgian professors while preserving the signature block; Turkish applicants to Georgian programs use the same service in reverse. Doctoral candidates and researchers need thesis abstracts, publication lists and conference certificates translated, and articles proofread before submission to Turkish journals or to Georgian ones. Native Turkish editors with academic backgrounds handle these texts.
On timing: Türkiye Bursları applications open in January and February, YÖS exams run in spring, YÖK denklik takes months, and the apostille on a Georgian diploma can take up to five business days. Start the apostille early, since the apostilled diploma is reusable, ask for a digital certified translation first so you can upload it while the paper originals are in process, and allow a week for the noter certification in Turkey.
