Yeminli tercüman, noter onaylı tercüme and the Georgian notarized translation
In Turkey a yeminli tercüman is a translator who has sworn an oath before a noter and whose signature that noter recognizes; a noter onaylı tercüme is a translation by such a translator certified by the noter. Turkish offices generally accept only this form, and each noter has its own list of sworn translators. Georgia's system is structurally similar - a Georgian notary certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary - but the jurisdictions do not recognize each other's certifications directly. A noter onaylı tercüme is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign notarial act; a Georgian notarized translation is, from Turkey's point of view, a foreign document. Each becomes usable in the other country either by apostille, where the receiving office accepts a legalized foreign translation, or by re-certification through a local sworn translator, which is what most Turkish offices prefer.
The practical consequence: do not pay for a noter onaylı tercüme in Turkey for use in Georgia, and do not expect a Georgian notarized translation alone to satisfy the Göç İdaresi. We prepare each direction in the form the destination actually accepts.
Georgian documents for Turkish authorities: Göç İdaresi, nüfus, noter, courts
Georgians applying for a Turkish ikamet izni (residence permit) at the Göç İdaresi, registering a marriage at a nüfus müdürlüğü, signing a property purchase or vekaletname at a Turkish noter, opening a Turkish bank account, or appearing in a Turkish court present Georgian documents with apostille and Turkish translation. The Göç İdaresi and nüfus offices almost always require the translation to carry a Turkish yeminli tercüman's stamp and noter certification; noters require it by definition; courts and banks vary. We translate the apostilled Georgian document into Turkish in the terminology and layout Turkish offices expect, and either apostille the notarized translation in Georgia for offices that accept it, or forward the text to a partner yeminli tercüman in Istanbul, Ankara, Trabzon or Batumi's neighboring Hopa and Artvin, who re-certifies it before a noter. This costs a fraction of a fresh translation in Turkey and avoids the terminology errors that Turkish translators unfamiliar with Georgian documents make.
Turkish documents for Georgian authorities
Any Turkish-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are passports, kimlik cards and driving licenses (translated from a photo, no visit needed), nüfus kayıt örneği and doğum, evlilik and ölüm belgeleri for marriage registration, family residence permits and inheritance, the adli sicil kaydı for residence permits, diplomas and transkripts for work permits and recognition, ticaret sicil gazetesi, faaliyet belgesi, ana sözleşme and imza sirküleri for company registration, vekaletname for representatives, iş sözleşmesi and maaş bordrosu for proof of income, and SGK documents for various procedures. Turkish public documents must carry an apostille - from the kaymakamlık or valilik for administrative documents, from the adliye for judicial and notarial ones - before the translation is notarized; e-Devlet documents with QR verification are accepted by most Georgian offices without apostille in current practice, and we flag the exceptions. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.
Residence permits, marriage and family files
Turkish citizens applying for Georgian residence permits - investment permits tied to Batumi property, work permits with Turkish companies, family permits, and the labor permit for freelancers - need a notarized Georgian translation of the passport, the apostilled adli sicil kaydı, marriage and birth certificates if family members are included, a diploma for work-based permits, and proof of income. Marriage between Turkish and Georgian citizens at the House of Justice requires the Turkish evlenme ehliyet belgesi (certificate of capacity to marry) from the nüfus müdürlüğü, apostilled and translated, and for previously married applicants the divorce decision; after the marriage, the Georgian certificate is apostilled and translated into Turkish for registration at the Turkish consulate in Batumi or the embassy in Tbilisi. We assemble these sets in one order, keep the transliteration of every family member's name consistent, and notarize everything in a single notary session.
Company registration and business documents for Turkish investors
Turkish companies and individuals register Georgian LLCs and branches for construction, hospitality, manufacturing, logistics and trade at a steady rate. The House of Justice needs a notarized Georgian translation of the founder's passport or, for corporate founders, the ticaret sicil gazetesi announcement, faaliyet belgesi from the chamber of commerce, ana sözleşme, imza sirküleri and the board or shareholder decision to establish the Georgian entity, all apostilled by the kaymakamlık or adliye; a vekaletname from a Turkish noter to a Georgian representative is the most common single document and is apostilled by the adliye. We translate and notarize the whole package within a business day, and once the Georgian company exists, its Public Registry extract and charter are translated into Turkish for the parent's banks, the Turkish tax authority and partners. Batumi property purchases by Turkish citizens follow a similar route with the sale agreement and Public Registry extract translated into Turkish for the buyer's records.
Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough
Not every recipient needs the notary. Universities for admission, employers, landlords, insurers and online portals often accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. Turkish state offices, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online - e-İkamet, YÖK denklik portal, Georgian registries - we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.
