Notarized and Certified Czech Translation - Soudní Překlad and the Georgian Notary

The Czech Republic appoints sworn translators through its courts; Georgia notarizes translations. We produce the Georgian format for Georgian authorities in 1-2 hours, and Czech translations built to pass the embassy, the Ministry of the Interior and the nostrifikace offices, with sworn re-certification where they insist.

Soudní překladatel, úředně ověřený překlad and the Georgian notarized translation

In the Czech Republic an úředně ověřený překlad (also called soudní překlad) is produced by a soudní překladatel appointed under the Act on Court Interpreters and Translators and listed in the Ministry of Justice register; the translator binds the translation to the original or a certified copy with a tlumočnická doložka and a round stamp, and this alone gives the document official value. Czech offices generally require this form for foreign documents. Georgia has no sworn-translator register; the official form here is the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary as competent in Czech.

The two systems connect through legalization and re-certification. A Georgian notarized translation becomes a foreign public document that a Czech office can accept once apostilled, and many do; where an office insists on a soudní překladatel, a partner sworn translator in the Czech Republic certifies our text, which is faster and cheaper than translating from scratch there and avoids the terminology errors Czech translators unfamiliar with Georgian documents make. A soudní překlad from the Czech Republic is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign notarial act; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.

The Czech Embassy in Tbilisi: employee card, Blue Card, study, family

The embassy's consular section handles long-term visas and residence applications: the zaměstnanecká karta for jobs registered in the central vacancy register, the modrá karta for qualified positions, the qualified worker program (Program kvalifikovaný zaměstnanec) that Georgia participates in, student visas, family reunification and the mimořádné pracovní vízum. Its checklists require Georgian documents with apostille and Czech translation, and for most categories a translation legalized abroad is accepted; for some, particularly family reunification, the embassy or the Ministry of the Interior may require soudní překladatel certification. The documents vary by category - the conviction certificate and marriage certificate for family reunification, the diploma and employment contract for the employee and Blue Cards, the school certificate and university admission for students - and we assemble the translated set to match the embassy's list for your category, with your name's transliteration identical across every document.

After arrival: Ministry of the Interior, matrika, labour office, health insurance

The Ministry of the Interior's asylum and migration department (OAMP) issuing and renewing residence permits generally accepts the apostilled documents used for the visa, but insists on soudní překladatel translations for new documents submitted in the Czech Republic. Matriky (registry offices) registering a marriage or a foreign birth are the strictest Czech offices and require soudní překlad of apostilled Georgian civil status documents; the matrika also handles the vysvědčení o právní způsobilosti k uzavření manželství procedure for Georgians marrying in the Czech Republic. Labour offices, health insurers (VZP and others), the ČSSZ for social security and schools accept certified translations for many purposes. For all of these we prepare the Czech text and arrange sworn certification where the office requires it.

Czech documents for Georgian authorities

Any Czech-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are cestovní pasy, občanské průkazy and řidičské průkazy (translated from a photo, no visit needed), rodné and oddací listy for marriage registration and family residence permits, the výpis z rejstříku trestů for residence permits, diplomas for work permits and recognition, výpisy z obchodního rejstříku, společenské smlouvy and plné moci for company registration, pracovní smlouvy and výpisy z účtu for proof of income, and potvrzení from the ČSSZ or health insurers. Czech public documents must carry an apostille - from the Ministry of Justice for judicial and notarial documents and the výpis z rejstříku trestů, and from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for documents from other authorities including matriky and schools - before the translation is notarized. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.

Marriage, family and residence files between the two countries

Georgians marrying in the Czech Republic go through the matrika with the Georgian rodný list, a vysvědčení o právní způsobilosti k uzavření manželství equivalent (the Georgian marital status certificate), and for previously married applicants divorce decisions, all apostilled and translated by a soudní překladatel; Czech matriky want civil status documents less than six months old. Czech citizens marrying in Georgia need a vysvědčení o právní způsobilosti from their matrika, apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, translated into Georgian and notarized. After a marriage in either country, the certificate is apostilled and translated for the other country's registry, and Czech spouses register Georgian marriages at the zvláštní matrika in Brno through the embassy. Children born in Georgia to Czech parents need the Georgian birth certificate apostilled and translated for the zvláštní matrika and Czech citizenship; children born in the Czech Republic to Georgian parents need the Czech rodný list apostilled and translated for the Georgian embassy. We prepare these as matched sets with identical transliteration.

Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough

Not every recipient needs the notary. Czech universities for admission, employers, landlords, insurers and online portals often accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. The embassy, OAMP, matriky, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.

Czech translation - frequently asked questions

Can I use a soudní překlad from the Czech Republic for a Georgian residence permit?+
Not on its own. Georgian authorities require notarization by a Georgian notary. We can have the Czech sworn translation reviewed and signed by our registered translator and notarized locally, which is cheaper than re-translating.
OAMP asked for a soudní překladatel. What now?+
Send us the request; we forward our Czech text to a partner sworn translator in the Czech Republic who certifies it, typically within a few days, without a second translation.
How long does a výpis z rejstříku trestů translation take?+
Once the apostilled výpis is with us, 1-2 hours for the notarized Georgian translation.
Does the zvláštní matrika in Brno accept your translation of a Georgian marriage certificate?+
It requires a soudní překlad of the apostilled certificate; we prepare the text and arrange sworn certification, and the embassy forwards the registration.
