Academic Transcript and Grade Report Translation - Course by Course, Credit by Credit, in the Format Recognition Bodies Read

The transcript is where a recognition body, a medical council or a transfer office spends its time: every course, its hours or credits and its grade are read against the receiving system's requirements. We translate Georgian transcripts into 49 languages and foreign transcripts into Georgian, course by course, with credits and hours preserved, scales explained and titles consistent, in one business day.

What a transcript is, and the forms it takes

An academic transcript (grade report, record of study, mark sheet, Notenspiegel, relevé de notes, certificato con esami, "prilozhenie k diplomu", "akademiuri tsnoba") is the official course-by-course record of a student's study: each course or module with its code, its credits (ECTS in Bologna systems) or hours, the grade obtained, the semester, and the totals, followed by the grading scale and the signature and seal of the registrar. Georgian universities issue it as part of the diploma supplement for graduates and as a separate transcript for current and transferring students; foreign universities issue it in their own layouts, some as a single page and some, in the American and Indian systems, as a set of semester-wise mark sheets. It is the document that a recognition body reads most closely, because level, duration and content are all in it, and it is the document where a small translation error - a course title rendered inconsistently, a credit total mistyped, a grade misread - has the largest consequence.

Georgian transcripts abroad: transfer, recognition and licensing

Georgian students transferring to a foreign university submit the transcript for credit recognition; graduates submit it with the diploma to recognition bodies and universities; and graduates in regulated professions submit it to licensing bodies - medical councils, dental councils, nursing boards, engineering chambers, bar associations, teachers' councils - which read it subject by subject against their own curricula and often want hours rather than credits. We translate the transcript into the target language with course titles rendered as the destination's universities name the same subjects (so that "Clinical Pharmacology" is recognizable to a medical council and "Strength of Materials" to an engineering chamber), credits and hours reproduced exactly, the grading scale translated with a note explaining it, and totals re-checked by a second reader. Where the destination wants hours and the Georgian transcript shows only ECTS credits, we add the hours from the university's records with the university's confirmation, and where a licensing body wants the curriculum, we translate it alongside (see the syllabi and course descriptions page). The transcript is apostilled through the education verification route with the diploma, and sworn or authorized re-certification abroad is arranged where the country requires it.

Foreign transcripts in Georgia: transfer students and recognition

Transfer students arriving at Georgian universities from Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Nigeria, Turkey, Iran and elsewhere present transcripts and academic certificates for credit recognition, and the university's faculty compares them course by course with its own program; graduates of foreign universities seeking a Georgian master's or doctoral program, a work permit as a specialist or formal recognition present the transcript with the diploma. We translate foreign transcripts into Georgian from any of our 49 languages, keep course titles consistent with the Georgian university's terminology where the faculty will compare them, reproduce credits, hours and grades exactly, explain the source grading scale in a note, and, for multi-page Indian mark sheets, American semester transcripts and post-Soviet "prilozhenie" formats, produce a single consistent Georgian document with the same structure. Transcripts issued electronically with QR codes or through national portals (India's DigiLocker, Kazakhstan's and Uzbekistan's systems) are verified through the code and notarized with a printout.

Credits, hours and grading scales

Three numbers on a transcript are read against foreign rules, and each has a trap. Credits: ECTS credits are standard in Bologna countries, but American credit hours, Indian credits, Chinese credits and the older post-Soviet system of academic hours are not the same unit, and a translation that silently relabels one as another misleads the reader; we translate the unit as printed and explain it. Hours: licensing bodies in medicine, engineering and teaching want contact hours by subject, which Bologna transcripts do not show, and we add them from the university's records with confirmation where a body requires them. Grades: Georgia's 100-point scale with letter bands, the post-Soviet 5-point scale, Germany's 1-5 with decimals, Italy's 30 per exam, the American 4.0 GPA, the Indian percentage and division system, the Thai and Malaysian 4.0 scales and the British classification are translated as printed with a note explaining the scale; we do not convert them, because recognition bodies convert grades themselves by their own tables and treat a translator's conversion as an error.

Consistency, completeness and the second reader

A transcript translation is a table, and tables are where errors hide. We translate course titles once and reuse them across every page and every related document, so that the transcript, the diploma supplement and the curriculum use the same Georgian or foreign term for the same course; we translate every course, including failed and repeated ones, transfer credits and non-graded requirements, because an omitted line is a discrepancy against the credit total; we reproduce course codes, credits, hours, grades and totals exactly and have a second reader check every number against the source line by line; we translate the grading scale legend, the registrar's signature block and every stamp; and we deliver the translation in the same layout as the original, so that an officer can lay the two side by side. Long transcripts are delivered in the original format - a table in a Word or PDF file that mirrors the source - rather than as running text.

Pricing, timing and how to order

Transcripts are priced per page at the standard tariff, with a modest supplement for rare languages, plus the notary's fee; the apostille at the state fee plus handling, and sworn or authorized re-certification abroad at the partner's rate. A transcript of a few pages is translated in one business day; a long multi-year record or a set of mark sheets in one to two.

To order, send photos or PDFs of every page - including the grading scale legend and the back of any page with stamps - on WhatsApp or Telegram, and tell us the university, recognition body or licensing body and the country; the quote arrives within 15 minutes with the certification level and any additional documents (hours, curriculum) the reader is likely to want. Bring the originals to Agmashenebeli 117, near Marjanishvili Metro, when the translation is ready, or courier them from any city. Delivery is by scan when the notary signs, by collection, by same-day courier in Tbilisi or by courier anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Will you convert my ECTS credits or my grades?+
No. Credits and grades are translated as printed, with a note explaining the unit and the scale. Recognition bodies convert by their own tables and treat translator conversions as errors.
The licensing body wants hours, and my transcript shows only credits. What then?+
We add contact hours from the university's records with the university's confirmation, and translate the curriculum where the body wants it. Tell us the body and we prepare what it expects.
My transcript is a set of semester mark sheets. Do you translate each one?+
Yes, as a single consistent document with the same structure, every course and every total, checked line by line by a second reader.
How long does a transcript take?+
One business day for a transcript of a few pages, one to two for a long record. The apostille on a Georgian transcript adds up to five business days.
