Tłumacz przysięgły, tłumaczenie poświadczone and the Georgian notarized translation
In Poland a tłumaczenie poświadczone (commonly called przysięgłe) is produced by a tłumacz przysięgły who has passed the Ministry of Justice examination, taken an oath and been entered in the ministry's register for a specific language; the translator certifies the translation with a round stamp and a formula stating whether it was made from an original or a copy, and enters it in their repertorium. Polish offices require this form for foreign documents. The register contains a small number of tłumacze przysięgli for Georgian, concentrated in Warsaw and overwhelmed by demand, so most Georgian documents in Poland have gone through them slowly or through English relay translations. Georgia has no sworn-translator register; the official form here is the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary as competent in Polish.
Our solution: we translate the Georgian original into Polish here, notarize it, apostille it, and forward the text to a partner tłumacz przysięgły in Warsaw who re-certifies it, which is faster and cheaper than a fresh sworn translation and avoids the errors of relay translation. A tłumaczenie poświadczone from Poland is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign document; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.
The Polish Embassy in Tbilisi: visas D for work and study
The consular section of the Polish Embassy in Tbilisi is one of the busiest Polish consulates anywhere for work visas. The visa D for employment is issued on the basis of the employer's oświadczenie o powierzeniu wykonywania pracy (for up to 24 months) or zezwolenie na pracę from the urząd wojewódzki, the visa D for study on the basis of university admission, and both require the Georgian passport, the employer's or university's document, proof of health insurance and accommodation, proof of funds, and sometimes the Georgian conviction certificate and qualifications; applications are booked through the e-Konsulat system. The consulate accepts certified translations for many of these documents and requires a tłumacz przysięgły for some, and we assemble the translated set to match the consulate's list for your category, with your name's transliteration identical across every document and aligned with the Latin form in your Georgian passport.
In Poland: urząd wojewódzki, karta pobytu, USC, gmina, ZUS
The urząd wojewódzki issuing the zezwolenie na pobyt czasowy and the karta pobytu, and the zezwolenie na pracę, requires tłumaczenia przysięgłe of every foreign document in the file, and the wojewoda's delays are notorious, so a complete file at first submission matters. Urzędy stanu cywilnego registering a marriage or transcribing a foreign birth or marriage (transkrypcja) are the strictest offices and require sworn translations of apostilled Georgian civil status documents; the USC also handles the procedure for Georgians marrying in Poland. Urzędy gminy for zameldowanie and PESEL, ZUS for social insurance, the NFZ for health insurance and schools accept sworn translations and, for some purposes, certified ones. Polish courts and notariusze require sworn translations of apostilled documents. For all of these we prepare the Polish text and arrange re-certification.
Polish documents for Georgian authorities
Any Polish-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are paszporty, dowody osobiste and prawa jazdy (translated from a photo, no visit needed), odpisy skrócone and zupełne aktów urodzenia and małżeństwa for marriage registration and family residence permits, the zaświadczenie o niekaralności from the Krajowy Rejestr Karny for residence permits, dyplomy for work permits and recognition, odpisy z KRS, umowy spółki and pełnomocnictwa for company registration, umowy o pracę and wyciągi bankowe for proof of income, and zaświadczenia from ZUS or the urząd skarbowy. Polish public documents must carry an apostille - from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for most documents, from NAWA for higher education diplomas after the university authenticates them, and from the kuratorium oświaty route for school certificates - before the translation is notarized. Polish ą, ę, ł, ó, ś, ź, ż, ć and ń are transliterated by consistent rules. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.
Marriage, family and residence files between the two countries
Georgians marrying in Poland present to the USC the Georgian akt urodzenia equivalent, a marital status certificate serving as zaświadczenie o zdolności prawnej do zawarcia małżeństwa, proof of identity and, if previously married, divorce decisions, all apostilled and translated by a tłumacz przysięgły; the USC may alternatively require a court exemption (zwolnienie sądowe) from the zdolność certificate where the Georgian document does not match Polish expectations, which we can help the couple's lawyer address. Polish citizens marrying in Georgia need a zaświadczenie o zdolności prawnej from their USC, apostilled, translated into Georgian and notarized. After a marriage in either country, the certificate is apostilled and translated for the other country's registry, and Polish spouses transcribe Georgian marriages at a Polish USC. Children born in Georgia to Polish parents need the Georgian birth certificate apostilled and translated for transkrypcja and Polish citizenship; children born in Poland to Georgian parents need the Polish akt urodzenia apostilled and translated for the Georgian embassy. We prepare these as matched sets.
Certified translation without notarization, and when it is enough
Not every recipient needs the notary or the tłumacz przysięgły. Polish universities for admission, employers for the oświadczenie stage, landlords, insurers and online portals often accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. The urząd wojewódzki, USC, courts, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded to a notarized and re-certified one later without re-translating. For clients who submit everything online - e-Konsulat, the MOS system for residence applications, university portals - we issue digitally signed PDFs, and we print, stamp and courier the same file when paper is required.
