Traducător autorizat, traducere legalizată and the Georgian notarized translation
In Romania a traducător autorizat is authorized by the Ministry of Justice for a specific language after proving qualification, and a traducere autorizată bears the translator's stamp and încheiere de certificare; for most official purposes the translation must additionally be legalizată - a notar public legalizes the translator's signature, producing a traducere legalizată, which the IGI, starea civilă offices, primării, courts and CNRED require for foreign documents. No traducător autorizat is authorized for Georgian, so Georgian documents have reached Romanian offices through English or Russian relay translations. Georgia has no sworn-translator register; the official form here is the translation notarized by a Georgian notary, who certifies the signature of a translator registered with that notary as competent in Romanian.
Our solution: we translate the Georgian original into Romanian here, notarize it, apostille it, and forward the text to a partner traducător autorizat in Bucharest who certifies it as a translation reviewed against the apostilled original, after which a notar legalizes the signature; this is faster and cheaper than a fresh translation and avoids relay errors. A traducere legalizată from Romania is, from Georgia's point of view, a foreign notarial act; for use in Georgia the translation must be notarized here.
The Romanian Embassy in Tbilisi and the IGI: aviz de angajare, visa D, permis de ședere
Most Georgians going to Romania go for work. The Romanian employer obtains an aviz de angajare from the Inspectoratul General pentru Imigrări (IGI) with the worker's documents, the worker applies for a visa D at the Romanian Embassy in Tbilisi with the aviz, and after arrival the IGI issues the permis de ședere; seasonal workers, the EU Blue Card for qualified positions, students and family members follow parallel routes. The worker's file requires the Georgian passport, the Georgian conviction certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (apostilled, translated, valid for a limited period), proof of qualifications where the job requires them, a medical certificate, and for family members marriage and birth certificates; the IGI requires traduceri legalizate. Romanian employers in construction, shipbuilding at Constanța and Galați, logistics, manufacturing and hospitality send us candidate groups, which we process as one project with consistent formatting, shared transliteration rules, coordinated re-certification and a single invoice.
Starea civilă, primării, notari publici and courts
Starea civilă offices at the primării registering a marriage or transcribing a foreign birth or marriage (transcriere) are the strictest Romanian offices and require traduceri legalizate of apostilled Georgian civil status documents; the primărie also handles the procedure for Georgians marrying in Romania and issues the CNP to foreigners on residence registration. Notari publici handling property transactions, inheritance and procuri require traduceri legalizate, as do the courts and the Cartea Funciară for property registration. The ANAF for tax, the Casa de Pensii and the CNAS for health insurance accept certified translations for many purposes. For all of these we prepare the Romanian text and arrange re-certification and legalization.
Moldova: authorized translators, the ASP and Chișinău
Moldova's system mirrors Romania's: translators authorized by the Ministry of Justice certify translations, and a notary certifies the translator's signature for official use. The Agenția Servicii Publice (ASP), which issues Moldovan civil status documents, residence permits and company registrations, Moldovan universities and courts require this form for foreign documents. Moldovan citizens in Georgia - students, workers, wine and IT professionals - bring documents in Romanian, often bilingual with Russian and occasionally in older Cyrillic-script Moldovan, which we translate and notarize for Georgian authorities; Georgians with Moldovan connections need Georgian documents prepared for Moldovan authorized translator re-certification through our partner in Chișinău. Moldova is a Hague Apostille member and its apostilles are issued by the Ministry of Justice and the ASP.
Romanian and Moldovan documents for Georgian authorities
Any Romanian-language document used in Georgia must be translated into Georgian and notarized here. The most frequent are pașapoarte, cărți de identitate and permise de conducere (translated from a photo, no visit needed), certificate de naștere and de căsătorie for marriage registration and family residence permits, the cazier judiciar for residence permits, diplome for work permits and recognition, certificate constatatoare from the ONRC, acte constitutive and procuri for company registration, contracte de muncă and extrase de cont for proof of income, and adeverințe from the Casa de Pensii or the CNAS. Romanian public documents must carry an apostille - from the Prefectură for administrative and civil status documents, from the Tribunal for judicial documents, and from the Camera Notarilor Publici for notarial ones - before the translation is notarized; Moldovan documents carry the Ministry of Justice or ASP apostille. Romanian ă, â, î, ș and ț are transliterated by consistent rules, and the CNP is reproduced exactly. We also offer e-Notary certification with a qualified electronic signature.
Marriage, family and residence files, and certified translation without a notary
Georgians marrying in Romania present to the starea civilă the Georgian certificat de naștere equivalent, a marital status certificate serving as dovada that they are free to marry, proof of identity and residence and, if previously married, divorce decisions, all apostilled and translated as traduceri legalizate; the primărie may require a declarație on Georgian marriage law and sets a ten-day publication period. Romanian citizens marrying in Georgia present a certificat de stare civilă or a declarație pe propria răspundere from the consulate, apostilled where applicable, translated into Georgian and notarized. After a marriage in either country, the certificate is apostilled and translated for the other country's registry, and Romanian spouses transcribe Georgian marriages at their primărie or the consulate.
Not every recipient needs the notary or the traducător autorizat. Romanian universities for admission, employers for the aviz stage, landlords, insurers and online portals often accept a certified translation with our agency stamp and translator statement, which is quicker and cheaper. The IGI, starea civilă, notari, courts, Georgian courts, registries, the Public Service Hall and banks do not. Tell us who will receive the document and we recommend the right level; a certified translation can be upgraded later without re-translating.
